Kade Warner

Touched base with him today as there have been some social media posts regarding he and Iowa. He told to me today that he doesn't think he will end up with the Hawkeyes. He's looking at Nebraska and Arizona State. Things can always change, but that's where things stand today.

Well boo. What's it with Iowa and not wanting Warners? Granted if I were him and money is no object I'd probably stay close to home at ASU if I were him. But if his preference is Iowa and for some reason Iowa isn't even wanting to have him come as a preferred walk on what are we doing? I'd rather have him then the Marchese kid anyway. Warner absolutely dominated AZ HS football and his name carries more then the Marchese one does that goes without saying. Wait don't tell me it's the twitter rule that has him 2nd guessing things??

Saw an article last week from the Omaha news where his dad was quoted as saying "Iowa is the least likely of those four destinations". The programs he was referring to were ASU, NE, IA, and UCLA, all as walk-on opportunities.

Maybe Ferentz is being honest with him in terms of how he sees the kid coming in and competing for any realistic chance, and the Warners don't want to hear that. It wouldn't surprise me that Ferentz has told him he can walkon, but don't get your hopes up. Perhaps the other schools have told him something else - whether it's an honest pitch or not - it doesn't really matter, he probably likes what he hears from these other places. That sounds logical to me.

I can't see that being an issue. Just with his Dad being who he is. He knows full well nothing would be handed to him and they'd probably embrace that. I can certainly see staying closer to home being a factor. But to go to Nebraska instead because of a clearer path to PT wouldn't make a ton of sense. Iowa clearly has the most unproven WR corp in D1 football just about. Maybe he has a better relationship with the Nebraska peeps for some reason and that would sorta make sense too. But from just a competition stand point or the depth chart I can't see that scaring him off Iowa.
