Just how RARE was that? Check out these stats...

i have not seen any fear out of White or Marble
i have no clue who you have been watching
who was it that hit the clutch shots in the end
it was Marble not the great Oglesby

Didn't LIck have a win against Mich st......was he "back". I'm being realistic.

Yes - but this was on the road, in the Kohl Center, where hardly anybody wins (except for Wisconsin). That's much different than pulling an upset on your home floor IMO.

The MSU game you refer to was a big win, no doubt, and goes to show that you can't get too high after one win, or too low after a loss. But I'm far more impressed with this particular win than the 43-36 barnburner at home against MSU a few years ago.

Let's try to enjoy this one.. The bright spots have been so few & far in between the past several years.

Please stop mentioning that Lick beat MSU...blah, blah, blah, blah....

Just stop comparing anything that Fran is doing to what Lick did...blah, blah, blah...

Iowa is playing as a team and the core of Marble-Basabe-White is really going to lead Iowa this season and throw in Cartwright as he appears to have no lingering effects of the hamstring injury.
The future with the aforemention three and Oglesby showing he is a capable player as well in encouraging.

Going to Wisconsin and winning is something that should be long remembered, when we look back at today, it just may very well be the day the Iowa truly turned the corner.

The team played well today and that combination of players at the end of the game looks like a very good unit. There are only a handful of decent big men in the BIG and I thought Iowa played great post D down the stretch and rebounded well down the stretch. Total team effort and came out like they had something to prove.
Huge win today. Nobody expected us to win at Wisconsin, even before the season started. We maintained our composure almost the entire game. Only a couple of lapses, one at the start of the second half and after Mel's double foul. We recovered nicely and made Kohl seem like a morgue, not that easy for any team to do.....

:)

If you are responding to the fearless comment, read it again...please, get a clue.

maybe you should be more careful in how you word it next time
but i am not completely in love with Oglesby like you
i don't see Oglesby starting til Marble leaves
White is rapidly improving and will be a solid 3
and Marble will be the 2
with Gesell the 1
Basabe will start at the 4 til he leaves
with Woodbury and Olaseni making it a solid battle for the 5

i know this thinking just goes against your superior knowledge of knowing BB talent
but guess what, get over yourself

I can't figure out who you hate more, Oglesby or McCall

I am in the web now, so I have to ask...what are you talking about with Oglesby? Well, really, what are you talking about here? I don't get it, you make zero sense.

he misread your post and thought you said Marble and White play with fear instead of fearless. Not sure about how Oglesby got brought up tho. That was out of left field

Yeah, still trying to figure out how Oglesby got pulled into the web, but I don't know why he would either.
Basabe is playing fearless again and has been for a few games now, it is nice to see him back.

Herby is a poster that I try to ignore, but it is very tough with the delusional thoughts that come out, like the Oglesby one.

i hate neither Oglesby or McCall
i just hate those that brag up eith before they show more than they have
Oglesby is fine shooter but has a lot to improve on
he is too careless with his interior passing trying to make them to fancy
also hasn't shown a solid defensive presence but with all freshmen
this can and will be improved by evident by the improved play of Marble and McCabe
as for McCall he had 9 carries against a very bad DII team and people are clamoring for him to get 15-20 carries a game whe Coker is the better back who avg 23 carries a game
he will be a solid backup nothing more til Coker is gone
there is a big difference in hating a kid and having realistic expectations on a kid i have seen in live action against college level players

So you hate hawk fans getting excited about hawk players? Weird

What has McCabe done this year? Don't see a whole lot of improvement from last season. He is a solid role player, nothing more or less. McCabe definitely has a role for Iowa, but not a prominent one. The major stat that McCabe has expanded on is he averages 3 fouls per game after averaging 2.2 last season.

It will not surprise me to see Oglesby have a much bigger role next year and even crack the starting lineup. The more I see Aaron White and the lack of true big men in the game today, I like him matching up against other 5-men in the future.

There are two starters on this team that should be getting nervous about their jobs as White has developed and the incoming freshman.

I think Herby hates everyone that questions him...I have to quit responding to his posts because I will get banned at some point because of something brilliant that he has to say.

ok, you guys sold me. I will climb the side of the wagon, but it has been many years since setting schedule to watch a bball game. I will watch next couple game s to see for myself, before committing like years past where run and fun became...well boring. It took years to fall off, so it may take a few games to adjust. Saw Fran at last Hawkeye I club outing and was very impressed. Also saw Hawks lose to Creighton and parts of UNI and Purdue game. Like the B1G intensity. Heres to looking forward to next week. (and 2012 and beyond).

If they played like the last two games you won't regret it. We'll see though.

So what if his passing was sub par... We beat Wisconsin with his SUB PAR passing... So it can only get better right?

Thanks for the stats. WI doesn't run the athletes out on the floor that Purdue, OSU, MSU does, so IMO, we match up better against them. Cartwright ran up the backs of the bigs on a few occasions and got into the paint without opposition. McCaffrey had the perfect plan in place, the team executed and WI was stone cold from 3. It's nice to finally play a team that doesn't shoot lights out against us.

I think Iowa will and should be competitive in every game moving forward if 2 things happen.

1. The other team shoots horribly from 3.
2. Iowa guards the 3 point shot.

"...Wisconsin's lack of offense sure helped." That is the case in many losses. I am not arguing with you Cibula because you are absolutely correct. Iowa losses games due to lack of offense and (or) defense. And teams lose because another team shoots lights out or because a team plays poor defense.

Some say that defense was the reason that other teams shoot poorly. Some teams just play poorly on some nights or overlook their opponent.

Who knows what happened in Madison other than Iowa played better than Wisconsin that particular night and gave this team a much needed boost and perhaps even some confidence.

Iowa may go to the Barn and stink up the place, shoot very poorly and Minnesota wins the game. One reason Iowa fans will use is that "Iowa's lack of offense certainly helped Minnesota win." Of course Iowa could also ride their victory over Wisconsin into the Barn, play well, and beat Minnesota.

In Iowa's case, ya take em' when you can get them this year, regardless of how ya get em.
