And so I can start sleeping better, when would the soonest date be that y'all think the Powers That Be would tell Ferments that things aren't working out, and go to him with an agreement for his release?

And what specifically would have to happen for that to happen? Would 6-6 this year and 5-7 next do it?

I still think that the ONLY reason Ferments is staying around is to try and "Smoke and mirrors" another 2015 season, which he hopes would build up enough goodwill to hand over the keys to Brian.....what sucks for us, is that he knows that there is no rush for him to perform another "Smoke and mirrors" act any time soon..

Actually you are sleeping. Go back to your dream. He isn't going anywhere. Get used to it.

I'm there already

Kirk's contract is pretty solid for the next ten years I think. If we go less than 7-5 for the next 5 years he could be bought out for very roughly $10 million for the 2021-2025 period, Add $2 million to that figure for each year 7-5 or better so could be $20 million.

Thank you for totally ruining my evening.....next, you will tell me that Romo will be starting in the Cleveland game.

NO WAY can I watch five (5) more years of Ferments trying to catch lightning in a bottle with a bunch of 2 Stars from West Branch or Decorah.

Well, I hate to say it, but it will be lack of ticket sales and any financial support. KF and his agent is all about the money, so the lack of it is what will be the solution, unfortunately.

With all the tv money, how much do those things matter any more? I'm thinking not much.

This is the last thing we need, imo. A loyal and passionate fanbase is one of the few advantages we have..

This is the last thing we need. Loyal and passionate fans are one of the few advantages at Iowa.

True that Iowa is known for passionate fans. Some are passionate for all the midwestern values that Iowa represents and accepts the occasional bad loss because we are still 'playing with the big boys' in a power five school.

Some Iowa fans are passionate for all the midwestern values but feel we can be more competative and gain better cred nationally by taking care of business and being on the cutting edge of recruiting, play calling and branding.

Yes, Iowa had a great and fun brand a few times over the years. KF had his time for a while, but his style has been passed up and he refuses to step aside and let Iowa flourish, again. He doesn't have the energy it takes, anymore. Our conference schedule is only going to get tougher, even if our non_con schedule doesn't.

I'm in the camp that says we can have national cred, again.

Apathy really set in, in 2014 and lack of ticket sales really showed it. I think when it gets that bad, admin will be forced to address it.

While I agree with this, attendance is going to have to really get down. I'm talking minimum 20,000-25,000 tickets that are not paid for. Barta can spin low attendance if they're still selling tickets.

I'm just not sure Iowa will get that low. I went to the Minnesota game in 1999. Iowa was 1-9 (0-7) going into that game. Probably the low point in the KF era and they still had 55,000 people there.

LOL always been sarcastic, still an optimist but coming to terms that I may be in fantasy land. Which honestly isn't all that bad. Can someone tell me if its normal seeing puppies, kittens, rainbows, and unicorns everywhere?

That was at the start of a new coach's tenure so there was new excitement. This would be on the tail end.
