Looks like he isn't afraid to bomb away even when his shots aren't falling.

He shot 30% from beyond the arc including 0-7 and 1-11 performances.

Good size and has a nice handle for his size. His stats don't look great. Would like to see a higher shooting percentage

Looks good. Release is a little slow, kind of a hitch at the top but I doubt he will be brought in to be a shooter. Great size and handles. Can finish at the rim too.

I'm looking beyond stats. BC stats were not great...yet look what he did. this kid is quick...athletic...has good ball skills...obviously had good hops. what I notice is literally everytime he does something his bench stands up like they expect something great..... they see him in practice....they know what he is capable of.... just my thoughts...

To build on that...

Cartwright averaged 9 points and 3.5 assists in his year at Paris JC (can't find any information on his shooting percentage. So many factors in play at the JUCO level. Glover would appear to be a decent prospect, has good size (6-4) and can handle the ball and take it to the basket. Basically Cartwright was the only one on the team who would make plays off the dribble for Iowa this year. Looks like Fran is determined to bring in at least one more guy who can make plays off the dribble (I don't blame him).

Those stats don't exactly get you pumped. 28% from 3. Only 11 ppg. Assists of 3.7 to TO of 2.6.

I get what you are saying if you simply looked at the stats but if you watch the video I think you will see a ton of potential and more importantly a player that Iowa is missing right now. We need a few more athletic players that can create off the dribble. Gatens and May are not the answer. I'm thinking that if this kid comes to Iowa we would likely see Glover, Marble, Gatens and May rotate between the two wing positions with Gatens and May NEVER seeing the floor at the same time.

shooting % from 3 point line is the last thing that would concern me regarding a point guard. Magic wasn't so hot from 3 point land..........

I agree it's not that important for a guy to be a good 3 point shooter if you have others who shoot well. However I think people wonder about his shooting ability because you could see this line up often:

PG Cartwright
SG Glover
SG Marble
PF Basabe
C Brommer

Cartwright, Glover, Marble can create but none of them can shoot. Hard to streatch the defense with those guys on the floor, the Defense will sag back and force you to shoot over them.

..maybe insert Oglesby into that lineup

I don't know how much you can take away from the video he looked to be the tallest player on the court.

Looked to be able to handle the ball and score. Not a PG in my book. SG more like.IDK maybe FM is more interested in a scorer than a leader. This kid didn't blow by his defender or anything but was decent controlling and handling the rock.

I see him as a wing not as a PG BUT he would also be an excellent backup PG for Cartwright too. Remember Payne is still injured. Marble did an ok job but nothing that would get it done consistently in the Big10.

We need a PG. We need a wing that can penetrate. This kid seems to be able to do both very well.

Lineup:

Cartwright / Glover
Gatens / Oglesby / May
Marble / Glover / May
Basabe / White
Brommer / ???

Mixing it up is important. Slashers and shooters.

Bryce,Gatens,Marble,Melsahn,new big guy.
-Bryce is a slasher,mid-range shooter, with Gatens, our best shooter from the arc,Marble,a point forward type that can back defenders down, and hopefully shoot a million jumpers this summer and improve. Good mix if Marble can improve his shooting and I think he will.

Cully,Glover,White,McCabe,Brommer.

-Cully is a promising shooter from the arc,Glover a slasher,White and McCabe both shooters that can handle.
Oglesby could be a shooter for either lineup.
