Juan Harris De-Commits from Iowa

I know its not the time to get emotional or jump to conclusions, but we need to outlaw satellite camps anywhere near the state of Iowa. This kind of thing has to stop now. Harbaugh needs to be put in his place. Urban Liar needs to stay out of our state.

At what point does criticism of a young person become petty, wrong, or gross? Completely rhetorical. Not knowing the specific details of Harris' life, my immediate reaction was that he lacks maturity. Maybe he does have family issues or other that make committing difficult. But in general, I don't agree with certain white knights online who and do not think 17 or 18 year olds should not have any semblance of maturity or professionalism.

Millions of high school students make commitments to universities across the nation every year. It's a huge commitment and life-changing for families. The moving, financial implications, etc. It's not something to be taken lightly and these high school students have some degree of responsibility in making this significant. If you're going to commit, make sure you make an informed and mature decision. Again, if unforeseen circumstances negatively affects a recruit's life and forces a decommit, that's understandable.

Now trashing potential recruits for picking different schools is pretty low and gross. I don't even feel comfortable reading tweets of people encouraging recruits in a positive manner to pick their school.

I can get behind your point had the circumstances been different. This young man needs to grow up and realize that your word has to mean something if you are going to pledge it and then break your commitment not once, not twice but three times already. Iowa's not a perfect program but it actually has some of what this young man actually needs in his life in terms of stability and discipline. It makes you wonder if he can be counted on for anything.

It's long past time for Iowa to move on. I've seen Harris play in person twice, and he is a "project" at best in my estimation. My only concern is that he doesn't fall on my son, who may be lined up across from him this fall!
T Totally agree. My son also played against him this past year and I was not impressed with Harris at all. Just curious, but what did you think of Harris' teammate, Ethan Lape? I honestly thought he was the best player on that team last year.

I see Lape as a possible non-P5 player, but would hate to see Iowa waste a scholarship on him. For all of his faults, Harris has far more upside than Lape, although Lape is more valuable to his team at this point.

FWIW, I have been told by kids who played against him last year that Lape is a very dirty player.

You missed a golden opportunity to utilize the word thrice. I imagine it will be difficult to recover from this oversight.

His home life is unstable and non-traditional until recently. He has all kinds of people whispering in his ear. He needs to lose the weight, get in shape and clear all the extra talk so he can make a firm decision. He needs to find one or two who he can have a conversation to sort out and come to a conclusion.

In other news, it has been confirmed the Earth does, indeed, revolve around the sun and not vice-versa.

Seriously, is anyone surprised? First, there are the previous de-commitments. The third commitment was odd enough. Going to camp at a neighboring B1G school? Writing, meet wall.

You were not misled.

Good luck to your son's team this year. I hope they beat NFV
