Juan Harris De-Commits from Iowa

Close to home and a small school would probably best suit his maturity level, Northern Iowa or Northern Illinois. Nothing wrong with that.

Christ! He has a harder time choosing his higher education than I have choosing which shoes to wear in the morning!
I will make it real easy for ya. I have black.....hell he might as well commit to ISU and become an even bigger clown than he is already.....moving on, nothing to see here

Not sure this kid understands the word "commit". Prediction: with this kind of douchbaggery...he's a perfect fit for ISU. That's where he ends up.

There is definitely something more going on. He had finally stopped the drama for almost a year then out of the blue he camps at Illinois of all places. Hopefully Iowa has rescinded his offer.
Yeah, Illinois. I could see Nebraska, MSU, or Michigan; even an SEC school if they think he's it for them. But Illanoy? Wow.

He probably got a whiff of the program Doyle had in store for him to drop the extra lbs!

The sad thing is this seems like a kid that could really benefit from a program like Iowa. Hopefully for his sake it doesn't turn into another sad "what could have been" story.

It's long past time for Iowa to move on. I've seen Harris play in person twice, and he is a "project" at best in my estimation. My only concern is that he doesn't fall on my son, who may be lined up across from him this fall!

I can see a young kid de-committing once because they committed early after falling into that first love after Iowa came a calling. I am sure most of you fell into that first love thing.

And if he looked around and played the field for some more visits that is fine to then come back to Iowa, your real love.

But the second decommit was enough to know this was over. Not sure why the hawks went to the third commit unless they wanted that size to try a 3-4 defense.

"Harris initially made a non-binding verbal commitment to sign with Iowa shortly after the end of his sophomore season at North Fayette Valley, the third high school he had attended in three states in less than two years."

...The third high school he had attened in tree states in less than two years...... that is not normal unless you in a military family, and even then it's a bit extreme.

Very curious to know what the deal is.

As stated above, what is best for him is structure, consistency, and discipline, which he may get somewhere but would definitely get at Iowa.

I don't understand some kids....and it's getting worse. This young man has no idea how much damage this much flipping is doing him, it's not like he's a top 4-5* recruit or top 100.

Disappointing mostly due to the physical gifts.

I wish him well, but have my doubts.

He's not had an easy life. I'll leave it at that.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems pretty obvious what happened.....

Juan wanted to go camp at Illinois, the coaches found out about it and told him that if he camped at a rival conference school, that the scholly would be pulled. So he went anyway and they pulled the offer and then he puts out a message acting as if he decommitted.

Good luck at Illinois!

Is this like what Harrison Barnes did to Iowa State fans in Ames back in the day when he was the super recruit?

At what point does criticism of a young person become petty, wrong, or gross? Completely rhetorical. Not knowing the specific details of Harris' life, my immediate reaction was that he lacks maturity. Maybe he does have family issues or other that make committing difficult. But in general, I don't agree with certain white knights online who and do not think 17 or 18 year olds should not have any semblance of maturity or professionalism.

Millions of high school students make commitments to universities across the nation every year. It's a huge commitment and life-changing for families. The moving, financial implications, etc. It's not something to be taken lightly and these high school students have some degree of responsibility in making this significant. If you're going to commit, make sure you make an informed and mature decision. Again, if unforeseen circumstances negatively affects a recruit's life and forces a decommit, that's understandable.

Now trashing potential recruits for picking different schools is pretty low and gross. I don't even feel comfortable reading tweets of people encouraging recruits in a positive manner to pick their school.
