Joshua Lewis Chooses Hawkeyes

Amen and Amen!

Get a top 50 player. 47th right? So a good question here would be what Big Ten teams swept up 46, 45, 44, 43, 42, 41………………. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 (BYU) effing BYU. Think about it seriously when looking at the B1G picture.

Speaking of BYU, someone at the top has made a serious commitment to winning. A year ago, they hired Kevin Young as head coach, who at the time was the associate head coach of the Phoenix Suns and was interviewing for head caching jobs in the NBA when he got hired by BYU.

Young was born in Utah and Is Mormon and has the famous last Mormon name. One of his coaching stops was as head coach of the Iowa Energy for a couple years.

If the Mormon church opened up the vault for NIL, they could have some serious money to spend on recruiting. They evidently want to compete at a high level.

These last games have been as bad as I’ve seen as a fan at Iowa. Makes me want to stop watching. But it’s hard, it’s in my DNA. I saw the Utah St game in person and I remember telling my wife, “this is one Fran’s worst teams”. … so I kind of knew early on. But maybe they figure it out down the stetch. Fran has made tweaks in the past that have worked. I’ll watch either way, and we’ll see where things sit at the end of the year. I’ve over reacted more than 100 times on Iowa hoops, I’m a fan.
I remember you and I feeling pretty optimistic about the "paper skill" - even athleticism - of this team as it fit Fran's style. Where we differed early on was, I saw first hand at exhibition that this team was horrible at rebounding.

I would still disagree a bit with you about "one of Fran's worst" and tweak to "one of Fran's worst underperforming, unreliable teams". They have good shooters that just don't seem to translate to games - especially at the most inopportune times. On paper, 50% overall and 39.1% from 3 are solid numbers but they are skewed by so much feast / famine.
I think, Ut State - Very winnable game. Shooters go 2-20 from 3.
Minny - Inexcusable loss. Shooters go 1-14:

When you already know they are pretty bad at defense (no news flash for any Fran team, there) and are usually gonna get outrebounded (a glaring hole this year) they can't compound it by their shooters failing so badly at their role.

Brigham had multiple wives and his offspring is all over America

The new Netflix series American Primeval is a very good series, literally couldn't stop watching it
takes place in Utah around the birth of the Mormonism

Definitely Worth a Watch

Rather Grim but extremely authentic

Jim Bridger is one of the characters and makes the show better

I've watched American Primeval already and it is pretty good, very violent.

But it doesn't take place at the birth of Mormonism, rather after the Mormons were driven out of Illinois and made their way to Utah wanting to develop a land where they could coexist without outside influence.
