Josh Oglesby

Don't really think there is anyone out there right now to replace Cougill, so with his absence from the team, makes one wonder if an Iowa offer to Oglesby is right around the corner.

He hasn't been offered because he is not the #1 priority at the guard position. The #1 priority at the guard is Devin Coleman.

Priority should be with Randle, but I don't know what sort of chance we have with him anymore... playing for Team USA U17 will get him some great experience, but I think we are a small fish in a big pond, like usual.

I thought I read somewhere that we didn't make the cut for Randle. Regardless, he was never coming to Iowa City.
As was said, Coleman is our top SG prospect right now. We will grab two bigs as well and I would love to see the other scholly offered to Oglesby.

Randle is clearly a longshot for Iowa now...sigh.
We need to score with Coleman, and then grab a couple of big guys, and another guard.
I would be very happy with Coleman,Oglesby,Uthoff, and Katenda/Sequele.

But, if not that group, hopefully Fran,Kirk,Sherman,Allen and Ryan have other irons in the fire.

Oh, trust me, they do. They are working the Dallas, TX area pretty hard as well as the NYC, New Jersey, an Philly area. They've also been out in Cali looking for prospects as well.

This is something we haven't seen since maybe Raveling. A coach that is willing to recruit all corners of the country. Awesome!!!

It's a no-brainer though. You got to try to recruit Texas and California because they are the most populus states in America. In Rivals new top 150 for 2011 Texas has 15 of the top 150, California has 9, and little 'ol New Jersey has 11. Fran needs to tap Illinois because they put 10 in the top 150, but the point is that those states can't keep all that awesome talent.

You are correct sir, this staff has recruiting ties not seen in IC since Raveling. I gottan believe Sherman's Nike experience/ties/cache are opening doors.

I pray that Iowa doesn't offer Oglesby Iowa needs athleticism, plus they have Gatens, May, Marble, Payne. Coleman should be the #1 priority at Guard.
The big guy Iowa needs is PF Thomas Gipson out of Cedar Hill, TX. Gipson is tough and can go up and down the floor all day.
I would love to see Iowa get Katenda/Uthoff/Coleman/Gipson as the 2011 class and not touch Cougill either.

Illinois is seeking to fill a need with Oglesby. They have all the athletes they need, but they are short of pure shooters. Same with Minny seeking to replace Hoffarber.
Wisky got Brust but always looking for spot up shooters. Iowa might need athletes more than shooters...or not.

There's not much to keep NJ's talent in state beyond Rutgers, and once you get past Penn State, Maryland, Syracuse, St. John's and possibly Georgetown you might as well be going to any place else in the country if geography is a factor in your decision. I've long felt New Jersey could be prime recruiting territory for Iowa; some of our best football players have come from the New York-New Jersey area. Glad to see Fran is looking to his East Coast roots as he recruits.

New Jersey already has a few good looking prospects from the class of 2012, one of which I already know Iowa is recruiting. He is a 6-6 forward from Newark, NJ named Aaron Bodie.

Also, looking ahead to 2012, Texas and California have loaded classes with easily 20-25 high major prospects between them.

I like what you're throwing out there McHawkIn... I like what the staff is doing for recruiting as well. Will pay off big dividends I feel.

Keep it coming, especially specific recruits is great...
