This makes zero sense. Just pulled all 6 player stats:
Tremaine Edmunds
93 tackles, 11 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, 2 PBUs, 0 INT, 3 FF, 0 FR
TJ Edwards
60 tackles, 8.5 TFLs, 2 sacks, 6 PBUs, 4 INT, 0 FF, 0 FR
Dorian O'Daniel
76 tackles, 9.5 TFL, 5 sacks, 5 PBUs, 2 INT, 0 FF, 1 FR
Roquan Smith
91 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 3.5 sacks, 2 PBUs, 0 INT, 1 FF, 0 FR
Devin Bush
82 tackles, 10 TFL, 5.5 sacks, 7 PBUs, 1 INT, 0 FF, 0 FR
Josey Jewell
117 Tackles, 12.5 TFL, 4.5 Sacks, 8 PBUs, 1 INT, 1 FF, 1 FR
But he's also played one less game... I agree it's not surprising in that players on winning teams get more attention it's just the way it is. Totally unfair to those involved on the teams not as good though. I think it's more impressive that guys like Jewel do what they do. To play that many snaps and maintain his production is just impressive. Is this a media award or coaches? I'd be surprised if coaches would screw over a guy like Jewel. The media when it comes to awards is a political joke I give next to no credence to anymore.
Are you kidding me? Unreal. I just hate all the subjective prom king awards anyway just for things like this. Their popularity contests based on whatever the individual voter involved wants it to be. They never seem to base it on whatever the stated criteria is...It's Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando. I know a former voter who cut his football teeth...as a small-college basketball coach and AD. Nothing says "football knowledge" more than having former basketball coaches as voters...

Yeah I'm surprised that guy responded at all. There's nothing they could say to 'pacify' a fan base in this case. Especially when he tried saying what he did. If that is their universal thought process on it and think they rightfully have justified leaving Jewell off for that then I think the award itself is just plain phony and who cares what they think... And the other schools and coaches should to. It's BS. Total complete BS. The fact Jewels stats are more then all those guys they have on there having played one less game just blows his 'explanation' out of the water. If a player can do that and isn't 100% like he's saying then doesn't that make it more impressive not less? He'd have been better served to have just ignored our fan base and not said a thing.Admittedly, that was several years ago. Now it looks like a "better" panel, but when one response from the organization cites Jewell missing time (one game) and less emphasis is placed on LB stats, it begs the question: when did the criteria change in terms of measuring best players?
