Iowa is willing to sample from a larger sampling of society. I have absolutely no problem with that.

I'm just saying, I think it works in our favor, perhaps more so than the coaches sticking by him. It's simply easier to get into Iowa than Michigan (or almost any other Big Ten school).

It definitely works to our favor. However, I also think that it's the smarter way to go too. Restricting entrance by test scores often prevents schools from really bringing in a bunch of terrific minds.

Is 2 hours a month really that low of a number for studying in high school?

lol I was at 0. I would cram during study hall for exams and did very well. High school was a joke and a half. College on the other hand, quite a bit more difficult. Actually need to put time in.

actually Iowa uses the same entrance requirement that everybody else in the conference, Northwesten being the sole member to have higher standards, so to say it is easier to get into Iowa you are clearly full of sh@t

Michigan certainly seems to be more selective. The middle 50% of accepted students have considerably higher SAT and ACT scores than does the middle 50% of accepted students at Iowa.

Office of Undergraduate Admissions: About Michigan

SAT Scores for the Big Ten - Compare SAT Scores for the 12 Big Ten Universities

ACT Scores for the Big Ten - Compare ACT Scores for the 12 Big Ten Universities

You'll notice that our 26th percentile of students scores scores lower than the majority of other Big Ten schools, particularly on the SAT.

You'll also notice that the bottom end of our 50% in the ACT is in the bottom 2-4 in each category. The same 3 schools match up or are lower than Iowa (There's never more than one school that's lower): Nebraska, Purdue, and Michigan State.

Meanwhile, Michigan's low-end score (27 composite, 27 English, 25 Math) is second only to Northwestern in each category.

75% of Michigan's students scored a 27 composite or better on their ACT. 75% of Iowa's students scored a 23 composite or better.

You guys act like Iowa is hard to get into. The dude could honestly get an 18 on the ACT and have a 2.8 or so and still get in. Honestly, I know some people who got here on a 21 or 22 ACT score and a 3.0. Iowa is very easy to get into.

That's your problem right there. You're using general admission requirements. Actually for non-residents it's right on par with the a lot of the other schools, but they are required by state law to allow many Iowa residents that those schools wouldn't admit.

Anyway, you should be looking at the standards for athletes as those are almost always lower than those for general admission and those are set by the conference (which are above those set by the NCAA)

I've heard Terrell Pryor and several guys from Illinois interviewed. Dont' tell me Iowa has the lowest standards in the Big Ten.

Yep, When it comes to athletes everyone will go as low as they can other than NW.

TP was academic all B-10 last year. Just because someone doesn't speak well in front of a mic doesn't mean they are stupid. Iowa has been able to get in kids OSU couldn't in the past when OSU raised their requirements.

I am sure all that $$ he was making went to good people to make sure he did well in class.

There's a difference between not being able to speak well, and saying something as stupid as:

"I mean, everyone does.....kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me."

I don't speak well in front of a mic because I get nervous. But my content is usually good, it's just the delivery that sucks.

Pryor's quote is a perfect example of stupid content.

No Tressel made sure the grades were good. Did that clown ever spend time in the classroom? Or is he a new aged Bo Jackson?
Hey don't throw Bo Jackson under the bus. He has done better than most athletes and is a very intelligent guy.

Exactly. rules are not the same for regular admission. Heck, I had a close contact who coached in the ivy league and they were allowed so many recruits each year with very avg scores.
