"They were good and they had some good players," Dwyer said. "But I really think that we just shot ourselves in the foot, man. We were just nervous."

lol

I heard about his comment. What were they nervous about; the weather?

Actually I can see why Georgia Tech was nervous going against a great defensive team and a team that wins in the 4th quarter. Deep down they know Iowa is a big time college football program, beating the likes of Florida, LSU and South Carolina in previous January bowls; all southern teams.

If anything Iowa show themselves in the foot, they could have easily won by 20+. They left 5 on the field with the safety and the fake, and Stanzi's pick six counted for 7 against us...so his quote should be more like "Iowa kept shooting themselves in the foot but we couldn't do anything against their defense"

Ive been really suprised by how big of cry babies GT is! All of this "we didnt perform" garbage is a joke! They could perform because our Defense was up their yahoos!

I agree. The real score of that game was 27-7 (would have kicked the FG instead of the fake) without the pick 6.

Their players came across as cocky before the game and this is just proof how cocky they are. You were dominated, deal with it.

I agree with him. GT really shot themselves in the foot by running into our tacklers on every play...

Their offense wasn't able to execute due to the fact that our defense was to much for them to handle. When they made a run of 7 or more yards they were shaking their heads like they were king crap or they were just that close to breaking one. Obviously it was few and far between of big runs. Another thing that ****** me off is the number 51 on their defense on the last drive that Iowa put the game away came through the line and hit our RB, it was a nice tackle but the guy stared at our RB but two plays later the same guy was watching our RB run to the endzone. GT is not in the same class as Iowa. I love the fact that when the Hawks make a big play they are celebrating with teammates and not by themselves.

I think you guys are being a little harsh with the kid. A lot of times when a team loses players can look back at 5-10 plays and wish they had done something different. Some players come out and say that, some don't.

I don't think he made excuses at all. Just said how he felt

What 5-10 plays would those be? Iowa's defense dominated that game start to finish. Stop being a contrarian just for the sake of it and realize what you saw last night.

GT had no idea what was happening to them when they were on offense, or how to stop it. End of story.

Did I say that is what I THOUGHT? No. But when you are an athlete that is how you think and really that is how you should think. It motivates you going forward. He probably thought of 5-10 plays where he could have blocked better or ran harder. Something that me and you wouldn't notice but that he would.

I just think this thread is very nit picky of a college player. He say Iowa played good and has good players but nobody mentions that in this thread. You just won the Orange Bowl! Enjoy it!

= Sore loser. Full stop.

Iowa DOMINATED the game, notwithstanding one scoring drive in 4th Quarter.

While I think Iowa dominated this game, almost from start to finish, I also understand how GT could think they shot themselves full of holes.

They were penalized nine times in this game, while running an offense that simply is not built to recover from a second and 15 situation. Add to that the idiotic play by Dwyer that was a near safety, his second half INT, and a missed field goal and it's simple to see where this kid and GT is coming from, IMO.

That's 12 plays where GT did not execute properly - including taking points off the board in at a key point in the game.

That does not take away from Iowa's win. Iowa made costly mistakes as well, two first quarter turnovers for example, but was able to recover from them. Iowa was the better team last night - and they executed better on the field.
