Jon Miller is a hero

I'll try. When it's cold, Jon's a good propane salesman, just likeFerentz is a good coach when he has 4 and 5 star players. Heck, when I get in enough foreign exchange students, I'm a helluva mathetes coach.

Just a guess, though.

You mean like 2010 when he had a roster full of guys about to go to the league and lost 5 games?

Or taking a knee in Columbus?

Or the many years he lost to ISU, NW and other similar bad teams or coming out unprepared and barely squeaking by tons of others.

pathetic record as a double digit favorite.

Allot of us were honest about it ten years ago and were call "Jihawkists" and the "lunatic fringe" by the same guys who are agreeing with us now.

Your right the ONLY thing that has changed with him is he no longer has a talent advantage, he's the same bad coach he's always been.

<<The point is, he's doing it now>>

Woo hoo. 50,000 Germans jumped on the bandwagon, too...in 1940. And jumped back off a few years later.

There is nothing "heroic" about what Jon or Schwartz have said or written.
Yeah, exactly my point. Jon's not a hero. Nobody said Schwartz was. But, hey, whatever.

And I didn't even have to use the over-PC-ed German/Nazi shtibomb. Better yet, I didn't use it bassackwards to try to make a weak point.

LOL.

Except I sell most all of it when it's hot SMOKE ON THAT ;)

"I only mention it because sometimes there's a man... I won't say a hero, 'cause, what's a hero? But sometimes, there's a man. And I'm talkin' about the Dude here. Sometimes, there's a man, well, he's the man for his time and place. He fits right in there. And that's the Dude."

Blindpooter - You mean a real journalist like Mike Hlas or Part Harty??? Hahahahahahahahaha.......

Jon is a savior, and the column by Schwartz is the best take on Iowa Football by an Iowa writer in years.

Jon is not a hero................he's a savior!!

(Remember this the next time I post pron):p and yeah, there prolly will be a next time.

Propane salesman in Oklahoma = selling ice in Alaska?! Snow in Siberia....there's some intelligience in play, journalistic integrity too. Calls a fair game without going off the deep end. I don't know about this hero savior sh**t though? Cmon, there's no bonus points for slurp slurp gobble gobble smooch here OP.

I didn't say he was a savior. I said he was going thru an apotheosis to a supernatural state of perfectness. Big difference.

Schwartz's article was well done and perfectly timed. In a bigger market, it wouldn't make a splash. In Iowa City, it's a piece of interest. Very few local reporters have put out a column or story that calls for Ferentz's job in a reasonable, well thought out manner. I have been told by someone in the business that the Athletic Dpt will pull a reporter's access if they are too negative. So, in that respect, Jon and Schwartz should be commended for having the balls to put this out there.

Am I the only one that has the final scene in short circuit 2 running through my head every time I read this thread?

WTF does J Miller selling propane have to do with the price of beans? I sense some site envy.

Because it's his job, not researching and reporting all things Iowa sports. Others out there are more connected and informed and are more reliable and a better source for Hawkeye info. His opinion is no more informed than the average fan. Not a knock on him, the rest of us have jobs and possibly families as well that take up nearly all of our time, but some hang on every word he says, because he's a Hawkeye "hero".
