Jon I understand Fred Hoiberg is god.

I listened to the podcast of your show on WXNO the other day because it said you were going to talk about the hire of Dillard. Instead I heard about what a great hire Hoiberg is and how the hawks can't recruit against him in the state of Iowa. Steve has an incredible memory and can state past facts very accurately, however, I don't give a **** about ISU basketball or anything else for that matter, so if you are going to put up a podcast with a title that people will assume is about hawkeye basketball why not talk about the hawks. If you want to talk about ISU label it as such and I won't waste my time.

Am I the only one that finds Tree's signature quote a little ironic according to his post? Or is this when irony is used in the wrong spot? Either way he is hypocritical?!? Or is that used wrong too? Never mind, let me just say he said something stupid at one point or another.

I'm not sure it's ironic, but I agree with your post ripvdub...I think...sort of...in a way...well screw it, it was ironic...:p

I'm going to preface this by saying that I love listening to Deace(and Miller). I love the show and the fact that they talk football almost every other day. I even love the way Deace isn't afraid to take a side that he knows isn't popular. The podcasts are something I love listening to. But you just have to roll your eyes at the hard on Deace has for Hoiberg. I almost spit out my coffee the other day when he said 9 of 10 people would recognize him in Iowa City. If Iowa had hired someone with no coaching experience, but who was a former player, I'm guessing it would have been a different take.

i agree about your deace take on hoiberg.

i can't listen and won't listen to a guy who throws so many stones at my team, Iowa, so I don't agree with your first part.

I am very much a fan of the show. Deace is good stuff, and gets me rolling at times. Gotta say though, from a show last week, I got a kick out of Deace ripping Fran for not hiring an Iowa boy on staff. His argument of Alford and Lick not having success in state is laughable. I think he should go back and look through the past few years. This supposed "cache" of the Hoiberg name is ridiculous too. It might hold some weight in the western half of the state, but the people here in the 319 couldn't care less about his legendary status.

His legend is that he is the mayor of a town in north central iowa.

Deace has been difficult at best to listen to these past few weeks - with his hard on for the Hoiberg hire and for Pollard. Seems like I barely hear Jon anymore (my drive to work is only 20 minutes, so this statement could be slightly skewed). Just going off what I personally have heard.

Is the Miller/Deace show set up to be a general discussion on sports with emphasis on those teams within the state or was it designed to be more of a Hawkeye focused program? I've often wondered because I thought there used to be more focus on Hawkeye subject matter.

Did it used to be just the Jon Miller show? Maybe that's what I'm remembering.

It's a show where we discuss what we think are going to be the water cooler discussions of the day...or stuff that interests us that might become the water cooler discussions of the day ;)

That is what you are remembering for obvious reasons I think. A big difference being that the solo show Jon would have guests, which of course with his Hawk connections were more likely to be Iowa affiliated. There are hardly any guests on the new show also for obvious reasons.

I enjoy listening to the show but depending on your perspective be prepared for a bunch of holier than thou right-wing interjections from the co-host not named Jon Miller.

I listen to the podcast every day, and Steve really doesn't do that. Too much.
