Jon - Chasson Randle

Saw Caff was going to be in RI today to see Mr. Randle. Jon, what is your gut on Randle? Will he give us a serious look? From the article I read Caff will camp out at every one of Randle's games all summer long.

Also, any new news on the assistant front? Hearing Speraw, Bowen, Recker rumors or info. Also hearing about Rodell in there somewhere. One would think that this needs to shake out here real soon.

They don't call him "White Magic" for nuthin'. ;)

Hmmm...

White Magic, born in 1959 and often seen on the East Coast:

Black Magic, also born in 1959, often seen in Michigan:

As with matter and antimatter, Black Magic and White Magic can coexist but must stay far away from each other or a cataclysmic event will result in the creation of a new supercoach named Gray Magic:

Fran is going to work it hard. He knows he has some decent players in Iowa to scope out down the road.

I find it hilirious that you are so hung up on him "working hard." What coach doesn't start a new job busting his *** trying to get players in and working hard doing it? Especially when the cupboard is so bare.

I find it hilarious you spend so much time on a Hawkeye message board.

What did you expect him to say?

You obviously have no idea how dry of a personality TL had, so its nice to see our new coach out recruiting hard.

I find it hilarious that you are so hung up on thinking you get over on anyone...maybe Jon's basing his "hang up" on the fact that Fran's done this 3 times already and has a proven track record for busting his a$$...

Now run along and get back to CycloneFanatic before curfew.

I find it hilarious that you think that it's hilarious that people think it's hilarious enough to start a hilarious post on other hilarious posts.

No idea? Absolutely had an idea.

FYI I think Fran is a solid hire who will do really well at Iowa and I hope he does (I have followed Iowa basketball up close more than 99% on this board). I just don't get this contstant talk about how hard he is working. Of course he is. I would be worried if he wasn't working hard to get some players in

Where does this information originate?

McCaffery was in Michigan today visiting with Marble. Second, McCaffery cannot have any personal contact with Randle until September.

Yes, he was in Michigan today and he flew into Quad Cities and was going to meet w. Randle. Randle had Stanford and BC in today during the school day during PE Class. So, for you to bring this holier than thou attitude is unfortunate when you do not have any idea what you are talking about.

Although I think you are trying to poke the bear I agree with your point. I would expect any coach to be doing 16 hour days this close to the spring signing period with the players we have now. Something would be wrong if they weren't working hard.

You'll excuse me if I don't buy your claim that you follow Iowa Basketball up close more than 99% on this board. Why would someone with a Cyclown screen name follow Iowa basketball so closely? And what makes you think you're sooo much closer to the program and more knowledgeable than 99% of us? If you're going to post in an Iowa forum, try to resist your natural temptation to sound like a blowhard. Remember, "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." -Abraham Lincoln.

So you agree with his point that its good that Fran is working hard, yet you expect him to say something else?

Makes sense...

He's saying that Coach SHOULD be working hard. He's saying it's redundant to say Coach is going balls to the wall, because if he weren't there would be a problem.

I don't believe Coach was going to "meet" with Randle. He was going to watch him play or work out in an open gym situation. Off campus contacts in which the coach actually speaks directly with the player are very limited, and I'm pretty sure this wasn't one of them.

Still, it's a step in the right direction. I doubt that we'll get Randle, but I think we can be confident that we're not going to lose recruits in the future because our HC has some quirky views about how to handle recruiting relative to the rest of the college basketball world.

Bingo! Not bagging coach at all. I think he will do great. But why are people impressed that he is working hard? He should be
