Jok Returns - Starting 5?

So with our team pretty much in place next year it appears there are a few ways Fran could go with the starting 5. Assuming available here are my odds to start next year:

Jok- 100%
CW- 90%
Uhl- 70%
Cook- 70%
Baer- 50%
Wagner- 50%
Jones- 45%
Moss- 15%
Jordan- 10%

I think that last spot is pretty wide open actually.

Williams
Jok
Jones
Uhl
Cook

Next year's team is going to be really fun to watch. I want to put Wagner in there but don't think he and Cook can both start. Fun thread. Hopefully it makes as many pages as the player prediction one.

Absolutely, although that one was primarily one guy arguing with everyone. I like the lineup you chose. That's a lot of length, solid three point shooting, and would create a lot of mismatches. Hopefully Jones comes back strong.

I love how Fran recruits. If you're going to get a 3 star kid, might as well get one who is really long. My lineup would probably be top 5 nationally for total wingspan.

I would speculate
Jok 100%
Uhl 100%
Williams 100%
Cook 100%
Baer 40%
Wagner 40%
Jones 20%

Math doesn't add up, but...

Jok- 100%
CW- 70%
Bohannon- 30%
Uhl- 75%
Cook- 50%
Baer- 60%
Wagner- 50%
Jones- 60%
Moss- 90%
Oglesby- 10%

What I think it will be to start the season:

1. Williams
2. Moss
3. Jok
4/5. Baer
4/5. Uhl

What I think it will be to end the season (if everyone is healthy):

1. Williams
2. Moss
3. Jok
4/5. Jones (rebounding)
4/5. Cook (toughness/athleticism in post)

It's really tough leaving Wagner out.

G: Williams

F: Jones
F: Uhl
F: Cook

Pretty nice lineup on paper, tons of length. I just hope our bench can consistently produce points this year. Baer and Wagner will bring energy for sure but I'd like to see Moss, Ellingson, or Bohanon develop into a solid 2nd unit scorer.

With so many new spots to fill and so many new faces it will definitely be interesting to see how things shape up.

I hope it will be fun because that would mean we are winning.

We know what Joc can do and we will need at least two other players to step up and surprise.

One needs to be a post player. If it's a post player, a wing player, and Joc then it could very well be fun.

Joc could shoot at a 85% clip but if he doesn't get some help it won't matter.

Fran is going to earn his meal ticket this year. I hope it turns into a royal buffet meal and not a soup kitchen.

I hope Moss is good enough that he is a starter. The one thing that concerns me with that is we'd have no guards coming off the bench. We'd run into the same problem we had this year with our top 3 bench guys being bigs. Maybe Jordan or BE can step up though.

I agree and hope Moss explodes onto the scene and does a great job. That would free up Joc at the 2 where he excels.

Obviously Jones health will be a big deal with his knee. If he's good to go I think his 3 pt shooting will be the biggest reason he'd get in there over say a Wagner or Cook early on. I think Williams, Jok and Uhl are locks to start and play a lot. It'll be 3 guys Jones, Wagner, & Cook that'll be in the mix for the other two spots. I don't think the starting lineup the first few games will stay that way all year long I think Fran may do a little more mixing and matching depending on who's playing well and even the opponent. Baer isn't going to be starting unless there are injuries to me he's just too valuable being the first man off the bench. He's just a shot in the arm they tend to need whether they bring him in after the first TV timeout or around there.

Dont' forget that Jones was one of the better rebounders, as well.

That kinda remains to be seen he really hasn't played enough at the D1 level to get a fair gauge on that. Regardless Wagner and Cook will be similar to him if not a hair above him in the rebounding category. Those two are more athletic then Jones I think. Wagner can really run the floor and has shown an aggressiveness that'll endear him to playing time for sure even if his offense isn't quite up to Jones. It'll be interesting to see how they sort out PT between those three for sure. There's no doubt they'll all play a lot.

I think Jok, Williams and Uhl are starting. If Jones is healthy I think he's starting. And I'm giving Wagner's year of in game experience; working with the coaches; and being in the system the nod over Cook's star rating as a true freshman.

I don't really care all that much which guys start. Who's going to play?

Jok - 32
Uhl - 25
Williams - 24
Jones - 25
Wagner - 20

Cook - 20
Bohannon - 9
Baer - 20
Moss - 18
Ellingson - 7

Best Guess...

I could see Ahmad developing a mid range jumper, similar to what Basabe did. The question then becomes do you really want your forwards shooting mid range jumpers? In today's game you'd have to hit them at a pretty high clip for it to be worth it.

As far as starting I don't think shooting is what will ultimately hold Ahmad back. Someone has to show the ability to guard quality post players. At 6'7 Ahmad struggled guarding taller players last year. Now Cook is only listed at 6'8, so maybe he will struggle in this regard as well. Whoever shows the ability to guard the Happ's, Bryant's, & Stone's (NBA?) will probably get the nod.

I love Baer as the 6th man as well, but I could just as easily see him starting. I look at CW & Jok as guards and Cook and Uhl as the forwards most likely to start. After that it's anyone's guess. Baer is probably our best defender, he can shoot 3s, he can rebound, he can block shots, and he can help with handling pressure. I think his versatility fits nicely with that first unit.

That middle lineup would get destroyed on the boards. Baer and Uhl combined weigh like 300 pounds.
