Jok Injury

I know he came back in but he was limping all over the place and looked like he had no explosion. Is that similar to what his previous injury looked like?

It looked to me like Uhl kicked him quite hard in the achelies/lower calf area as he passed by. You could see Pete's foot shake after the impact. It didn't look like it got his knee again, but I wouldn't be surprised if he has a deep bruise in that area.

Jok is one of those guys that reacts to every bump and bruise like he's going to die. When he left the floor I turned to my wife and said "He'll be back in the game within 10 minutes."

I haven't seen an Iowa player on the ground... every game... and injured just to come back 5 minutes later since Kenyon Murray.

I coached against Pete in Little League. He leaves with an injury and is eating a hot dog on the bench 5 minutes later.

Other teams are recognizing that if your tough on him "in your face type of defense", he struggles. They get into his head... He needs to toughen up.

If you mean tough defense, by illegal grabbing and holding onto him defense then sure, but anybody will have same outcome to that.

So you don't think Uhtoff doesn't have to deal with the same? Just by the nature of his position, I'd say he deals with it constantly... being the star player makes it even worse. Welcome to the B1G... Get over it and deal with it. NBA is even worse...

Jok shot well in the game, 4-7 fg and 2-3 fts, but he didnt get off enough shots. If he gets off 18 shots he has maybe 5 more baskets.

He seems to be catching the ball in shooting position with room to elevate but is not going up immediately sometimes.

He needs to shoot when he is feeling it as Jok on one side and uhtoff on the other can be very formidable.

The Hawk starters played well enough except for a few minutes here and there.

Yeah, he's got a flair for the dramatic. It's part of the reason i love him. He's kind of a weird, talented, goof.

The coaches scouting against iowa need a raise for figuring out if you play tough defense on him he will stuggle. I wonder if it would work on some of our opponents too. Fran should look into it.

Since we've been all over the map on this thread, let me say I think the coaching staff needs to make up their minds if Jok is a 3, a small forward, or is a 2, a big guard.

Jok starts as a 3 which allows Gesell and Clemmons to start. Is Jok tall enough to get off his shot against an athletic 3 or is Jok athletic enough to get off his shot against an athletic 2? Indiana, with their man-to-man defense, had him blanketed. If Jok needs help like he did against Indiana, Iowa better call some plays for him. At least, set some screens for him. It's evident Jok's scoring is vital to Iowa's success.

Fran played the Iowa starters for most of the Indiana game.
If Jok started as the 2, that would bench either Clemmons or Gesell. Then, I guess, Uthoff would play the 3 and Uhl would play the 4...until, maybe, Ahmad Wagner grew into the 4 spot.
