Former Penn State coach Joe Paterno has a treatable form of lung cancer, according to his son.
Scott Paterno says in a statement provided to The Associated Press by a family representative that the 84-year-old Joe Paterno is undergoing treatment and that "his doctors are optimistic he will make a full recovery."

He just needs to live long enough to get on the stand at any trials that result from this (including perhaps eventually his own).

The stress will not help when battling the illness. Regardless of past mistakes, I hope he can find some peace.

Hopefully this will ease the lynch mob mentality that has been built against him. I swear some people are more against him then the guy who did the molesting.
Whatever a$$clown. The view is about the same as it is from your tavernhawk pedestal that you preach from all the time. So it's now a proven fact that Paterno knew the full story of what was going on? Trust me, I don't think the guy is completely innocent but the cancer thing comes from a check-up a few weeks ago and is not in an effort to curry favor IMO.

I think the family coming out with this information is an obvious attempt at that. I agree that it seems like McQueary is getting off easy as compared to JoePa, but JoePa was the captain of the ship. It's becoming more and more evident that he helped to harbor a sicko that he had to of known was a pedophile (or at least known that he wasn't right in the head when it came to young boys).

The guy who did the molesting is sick in the head, a pedophile who should have been locked up decades ago.
The other guy is an egomaniac who believes he is a demigod, and turned his head to allow the sick pedophile to continue raping little boys for at least 13 years, and probably more. All so his "program" and legacy and income would not be impacted.
Do I feel very strongly that paterno is a pos almost on the level of sandusky? Yeah, you bet I do.

Those Sandusky victims will all get milti million dollars settlements. I'm sure that will help with recovery.
