Joe Wieskamp Donates Gatorade POY Money to YMCA

Good for him. A great example of what Iowa athletics should represent.

I never would have thought there was a financial award with that honor. That seems strange to me that a high school athlete wins an award and gets money with it.

From the website, https://www.gatorade.com/poy/about#state, it appears the athlete actually receives a grant that they select who benefits.

As part of the newly-launched “Play It Forward” Program, all 606 Gatorade Player of the Year winners will be able to select a youth sports organization to receive a $1,000 grant to help the next generation of athletes reap the benefits of sport. National winners will receive an additional $10,000 grant.

That makes a little more sense. Thanks.

Reading on twitter that he's tearing it up at the Top 100 camp.

I've said it all along that I think Joe and PMac will be great at the 3 and 4 spots and now just need some good guards to go with them.

What's the deal with AJ in terms of Iowa? I know Iowa State and UNI are both after him.

Is there just no interest from AJ in terms of going to Iowa and the Iowa staff knows this??

Maybe that's the case. Even if it is, Fran should be recruiting him. Things can change, quickly. I really have no idea what's going on, though.

I think it's just about having no room for him. In state talent is so good lately.
