Let us now set aside our loathing of the Buckeyes for our little brothers to the East.

If Iowa doesn't come out and punch a wounded jNW team in the throat, then I predict a serious meltdown. I'm predicting Iowa goes back to more 2 and 3 TE sets and just imposes their will, much like the ISU game.

The Iowa D better get their **** together though, as even an injured Kolter is dangerous. I'm guessing this one will be too close for my comfort and I'll be pacing the room like a caged lion.

Last week Fitz said that they would play only in an emergency. Turned out there wasn't an emergency. I suspect the Iowa game is an emergency.

you mean Kolter and Mark? cause while that other QB is fast, he is a pretty awful passer. very good news that Mark is out. not sure who else might be dinged up on their team.
 
If Iowa can't stop Lynch or Miller then I don't see how this horrendous Iowa secondary will avoid getting gashed by Colter or how our DL will contain him. Fitz is 6-2 against Ferentz. Think about that. His schematics are the thorn in Iowa's side. Ferentz is constantly out-coached by Fitz.

I'm not worried about Iowa running against NW and scoring, I am however worried that our defense won't be able to stop Colter. Our secondary is a HUGE liability. If Colter plays, NW wins 34 - 28.
 
If Colter plays, the result is similar to the NIU game. If Colter doesn't play, the result is similar to the Minnesota game.
 
Even though this thread doesn't seem *official* I will still venture a guess. If we can put 24 on OSU, then we can hang 31 on jNW @ home. Predicting jNW is tougher cause we aren't sure who is playing for them. I'm pulling a 27 out of thin air.

Iowa 31 Northwestern 24. Last year's game was an embarrassment to the program. From reading between the lines this off-season it sounded like this game was circled in red. Big measuring stick to see how far the defense, especially the interior defensive line, has come from last season. Have to keep contain outside. Have to keep them off-balance on defense.
 
Hopefully he won't be100%. Imo we finally smack Nw and they won't feel to good leaving Iowa City. Iowa 31 them other purple things 12.

I agree 100% with the circling the game in red thing. I firmly believe Iowa comes out and pounds NW on sat. with something to the tune of 250+ rushing yards, and some fairly wide-open play action boots for touchdowns. As long as Iowa doesn't get into a turnover battle, I say 42-21 hawks. I know Kain Coulter is deadly, but him being banged up is far far different than a healthy Braxton miller running around.
 
34-20 was my initial thought, then I read that post above about the onside kick...so 34-27 Hawks at home and moving ball around but still being weak to the deep pass on D.
 
With Mark already ruled out I think we see some Colter, who will be ineffective because of his injury and some Siemian who will be ineffective because he sucks.

Weisman and the Iowa TE's have another big day.

Iowa wins 30-14.
 
This would be a great game for the Hawks to start building up some momentum and confidence heading into the final part of their schedule. I fully realize last weekend was a loss, but it seemed to me like the offense is really starting to click. After reading about Fitz's hatred for the Hawks, and after the beatdown they handed Iowa last year I surely hope Ferentz loses the conservative approach this weekend and pounds these little purple maggets into the ground. Stomp on them while they are down! You know damn well Fitz would do it to Iowa! He did last year! Return the damn favor Hawks!
