jNW Prediction Thread

Iowa 41
Mildcats 20

KF snubs fitzscumbag after the game with the fake handshake to hair comb move, and he will say too slow.

Iowa - 27
NW - no idea, so I'll say less than 27.

We need this game. I will admit I am quite nervous. I don't think it will be easy, regardless of Colter (although, he is a game changer for nw if he is healthy)

If Iowa can't stop Lynch or Miller then I don't see how this horrendous Iowa secondary will avoid getting gashed by Colter or how our DL will contain him. Fitz is 6-2 against Ferentz. Think about that. His schematics are the thorn in Iowa's side. Ferentz is constantly out-coached by Fitz.

I'm not worried about Iowa running against NW and scoring, I am however worried that our defense won't be able to stop Colter. Our secondary is a HUGE liability. If Colter plays, NW wins 34 - 28.

Horrendous? Really?

You must not be watching the same games as the rest of us. The secondary needs work, but is far from "horrendous".

I change my prediction. If Colter plays more than Siemian, the result will be like the ISU game. If Siemian plays more than Colter, the result will be like the Minnesota game. If Colter doesn't play at all (which now sounds unlikely), the result will closer to the WMU game.

Far from horrendous. Iowa is 3rd in the conference in pass defense (both yardage and efficiency) and 4th in interceptions.

Some interesting stats I found: Purdue has only attempted 11 extra point kicks this season (Michigan has 39 attempts). Purdue and Illinois are the only Big Ten teams who have recovered their own onside kick attempt (Indiana is 0 for 4). Iowa is 12th in the conference in onside kicks against; all the other teams are tied for 1st with 0. Despite wanting to never return a punt again, Kirk leads the conference in punt return average by almost 7 yards.

NW can't stop the run. Ohio State stomped on their mojo and it hasn't came back yet. Losing to Minny makes their confidence even worse. Expect a big day on the ground and RB by committee.

IA 34 NW 17

Our ground game is sufficient and JR has a "career" day throwing for 300+ with 4 tds. This will be the 1st of his 3 dominant wins against NW. That monkey climbs fitz's back again and stays there. Iowa wins 41-20.

You are right on the mark MiniMoe! Get back to the RB rotation we saw earlier in the year and combine it with that 13 formation we saw last week. Colter or no Colter, TOP will favor the Hawks by a large margin, maybe +7 minutes.

The Gophers put 176 yds rushing on them and NW went for 94. They did throw for 248 but that didn't translate into points. I think they are most dangerous between the 30s where long balls can lead to scores. The Hawks will be able to gouge their D line. Hawks just need to avoid turnovers. The 'Cats can't score if they don't have the ball...

so, Colter is a go, but Mark is not. still unsure if they have any people out on D, but Iowa should be able to own the LOS on offense at least. steady doses of power running should leave for some serious yards in the second half.
