Here's the problem I see with the posters response to my post.
"If there wasn't about 5-6 years of visual data to suggest that he is sincere about what he does, maybe I'd be more inclined to agree with you. He was like this in high school, like this in college, and now like this in the NFL."
In my post I wrote that Tebow pretends to be an underdog. I'm guessing in this section that the poster is referring to Tebow's faith, which I never bring up.
"Usually a guy who wins a Heisman and a national championship wouldn't be considered an underdog, but considering how many people told him he would be terrible as a pro, yes, I'd say he was an underdog (as opposed to pretending to be one)."
You forgot to mention that the state of Florida changed it's laws to allow home-schooled athletes to participate in public school sports specifically because of Tebow. Entering the NFL was the first time Tebow wasn't hailed as the next big thing. One instance of being questioned doesn't make someone an underdog. I believe it is a gimmick to promote Tim Tebow's business interests.
"Again, if there weren't an abundance of evidence to the contrary, I'd be more inclined to believe you. But you can find people at every level of his career that have said he's one of those first-in/last-out type of guys. So I'd say he was at least putting in his fair share, if not more, as opposed to pretending to work hard."
Tim Tebow was the third string QB when he leap-frogged Brady Quinn for the starting spot. He didn't earn the spot, it was given to him (probably in the hopes that he would fail, but that's a whole other thing).
"How many guys, if given the chance, wouldn't try to make the most of it? I'm not even sure I understand how this is something Tebow would be pretending to do...Tebow was the QB on a team that made the playoffs this year and he did throw for over 300 yards and the game winning TD to advance his team into the divisional round. Perhaps he was only pretending to make the most of it...?"
Again, the message of the post was in reference to the underdog tag Tebow has attached to himself. Breaking one sentence into fragments to make your point has made it bit confusing, but hey, whatever you have to do.
"This Lin kid's story is a good one, but trying to draw parallels to Tebow for the sole purpose of degrading Tebow is a stretch."
My sole purpose wasn't to degrade Tebow, but to point out that Lin's story actually is the story of an underdog. Lin was never expected to succeed at any level, and here he is making people talk about the Knicks again.
In my opinion Lin's story is far more impressive than Tebow's. I'm still entitled to my opinion, right?
