Jeremy Lin IS

Tebow Hater: "I don't hate Tebow, I just hate that he's always in the media"

Normal Person: "You know Tebow hasn't been talked about in a month?"

Tebow Hater: "Errrr TEBOW TEBOW TEBOW!!!"

Are you actually claiming that Tebow hasn't been talked about in a month?
Man, I wish I had access to your media outlets.

On ESPN2, Mrs. Tim Tebow (aka Skip Bayless) still mentions him almost daily.

Skip Bayless? Dude, what show is he even on? I think I saw him on ESPN in a sports bar when I was having lunch a few weeks ago, so I can only assume that Bayless has the day shift. I can also only assume that you're unemployed, because you have time to watch Skip Bayless.

Actually I take care of my daughter full-time so I see a bit of daytime ESPN.

Even if I was unemployed I'm not sure why that would make my opinion any less valid, but thanks for the attempted insult anyway.

Oh no, it definitely makes your opinion less valid, regardless of your employment status. I don't care if you're the Sultan of Brunai, if you're voluntarily watching Skip Bayless on your own time, your opinion doesn't count.

Fair enough.

From now on I'll spend the time I wasted watching Mrs. Tebow contemplating how I can become awesome like you.

Warriors had no money as they were trying to sign DeAndre Jordan. Nate didn't sign untill the season started.

You have no clue whatsoever as to what you are talking about. Lin was due to make 800K this year when he was waived. That is next to nothing and has nothing to do with freeing up money for a player they hadn't even signed yet! If you need to free up money you don't cut a Lin making next to nothing, you cut someone who actually makes money (difficult concept?). They then brought in Nate Robinson for 1.0 Million shortly after the season started, MORE THAN LIN WAS TO MAKE! To try and spin that any other way than incompetent roster management by their GM and Mark Jackson is a joke.

Here's the problem I see with the OP...

"What Tim Tebow pretends to be..."
If there wasn't about 5-6 years of visual data to suggest that he is sincere about what he does, maybe I'd be more inclined to agree with you. He was like this in high school, like this in college, and now like this in the NFL.

"An underdog..."
Usually a guy who wins a Heisman and a national championship wouldn't be considered an underdog, but considering how many people told him he would be terrible as a pro, yes, I'd say he was an underdog (as opposed to pretending to be one).

"...who has worked his a$$ off to get a chance..."
Again, if there weren't an abundance of evidence to the contrary, I'd be more inclined to believe you. But you can find people at every level of his career that have said he's one of those first-in/last-out type of guys. So I'd say he was at least putting in his fair share, if not more, as opposed to pretending to work hard.

"...and is making the most of it."
How many guys, if given the chance, wouldn't try to make the most of it? I'm not even sure I understand how this is something Tebow would be pretending to do...Tebow was the QB on a team that made the playoffs this year and he did throw for over 300 yards and the game winning TD to advance his team into the divisional round. Perhaps he was only pretending to make the most of it...?

"I'll take Linsanity over Tebowmania any day of the week."
This Lin kid's story is a good one, but trying to draw parallels to Tebow for the sole purpose of degrading Tebow is a stretch.

This post is full of winning. I despised the amount of coverage that Tebow got this season, but I root for him to succeed. Maybe he's a little over the top with his faith, I don't know (and I do know some people who have been VERY pushy about their faith, even going back to high school). But I do think he's genuine.

I think Lin's story is better than Tebow's. Tebow has been bashed on plenty, but he was also a first round pick. That's not meant to degrade Tebow in the least. Lin's story is just that good.

Dude, you don't know what you are talking about. You forgot to mention Houston cutting him, or the fact that he would have never played again in GS. It took a minor miracle for him to play in NYK

Here's the problem I see with the posters response to my post.

"If there wasn't about 5-6 years of visual data to suggest that he is sincere about what he does, maybe I'd be more inclined to agree with you. He was like this in high school, like this in college, and now like this in the NFL."
In my post I wrote that Tebow pretends to be an underdog. I'm guessing in this section that the poster is referring to Tebow's faith, which I never bring up.

"Usually a guy who wins a Heisman and a national championship wouldn't be considered an underdog, but considering how many people told him he would be terrible as a pro, yes, I'd say he was an underdog (as opposed to pretending to be one)."
You forgot to mention that the state of Florida changed it's laws to allow home-schooled athletes to participate in public school sports specifically because of Tebow. Entering the NFL was the first time Tebow wasn't hailed as the next big thing. One instance of being questioned doesn't make someone an underdog. I believe it is a gimmick to promote Tim Tebow's business interests.

"Again, if there weren't an abundance of evidence to the contrary, I'd be more inclined to believe you. Tim Tebow was the third string QB when he leap-frogged Brady Quinn for the starting spot. He didn't earn the spot, it was given to him (probably in the hopes that he would fail, but that's a whole other thing).

"How many guys, if given the chance, wouldn't try to make the most of it? I'm not even sure I understand how this is something Tebow would be pretending to do...Tebow was the QB on a team that made the playoffs this year and he did throw for over 300 yards and the game winning TD to advance his team into the divisional round. Again, the message of the post was in reference to the underdog tag Tebow has attached to himself. Breaking one sentence into fragments to make your point has made it bit confusing, but hey, whatever you have to do.

"This Lin kid's story is a good one, but trying to draw parallels to Tebow for the sole purpose of degrading Tebow is a stretch."
My sole purpose wasn't to degrade Tebow, but to point out that Lin's story actually is the story of an underdog. Lin was never expected to succeed at any level, and here he is making people talk about the Knicks again.

In my opinion Lin's story is far more impressive than Tebow's. I'm still entitled to my opinion, right?

Why do you insist on insulting our intelligence? If your sole purpose was to praise Lin instead of dump on Tebow, then you wouldn't have written "Jeremy Lin IS everything Tim Tebow pretends to be" in your first post. And if all you cared about was propping up Jeremy Lin, your second post wouldn't have been "Tebow is about 98% hype".

If you just wanted to show your support for JL, you could have without bringing Tebow into it. You could have posted in the existing Lin thread. But you hate Tebow (for reasons you chose to articulate here, despite the fact you claim your purpase isn't to degrade him), and you brought up Lin as a contrast to Tebow to insult Tebow, and now you're lying to me and saying you never wanted to do that in the first place.

So no, you're not entitled to your opinion. You're the one running away from your statements when you got called on it.

The Ghost has spoken. Make it so!

So you are actually stating again after being corrected that a player making $800,000 was cut for a player making $1,000,000 to save money? You sound really intelligent!

The Warriors GM even admitted to the New York Times he cut Lin not for money as you so ignorantly contend but because he didn't think he was any good.

Let me make this simple. They cut Lin to make room to go after Jordan. They didn't get him, so they signed Nate once the season started. Nice to know you are a butthurt Warriors fan acting like you knew Lin was gonna do this.

Wrong as usual, I don't like the Warriors at all, I think it's hilarious to see someone like you who can't admit they are wrong when you were clearly blabbing about something you have no clue about. The Warriors had 8 players on salary when they cut Lin, he makes next to nothing and you are so stupid you want to argue it was about money? Hilarious!

Theres plenty more, but keep making yourself look intelligent Troy.

Again like a idiot you contend they cut a player making 800K when they had 8 players on their roster to save money? Wow you are really intelligent. Even your own SI article states they saved ONLY 300K by cutting Lin and replacing him. Only an idiot would believe that was the reason and not because they don't think Lin is any good.

The Warriors GM has already said as much in the NEW YORK TIMES, (please post more links to iamagm.com though, it's freaking hilarious).

From the Times: Larry Riley, the Warriors’ general manager. “I have egg on my face in telling you that I did not think he was going to become a starting point guard with a good team. He’s doing that right now.â€￾
