Jarrod Uthoff

This video is not very telling as the competition is just a bit less than he will face next season.
Any film on him from AAU ball? How much has he grown physically(filled out) since HS?

He does seem to be unselfish and have good vision for passing, not a powerful finisher. As Woody sees this year, he may also get stuffed a lot around the hoop.

I don't think he starts at Iowa next year...unless he clearly beats someone out. He would be a great addition to the swcond unit that struggles with scoring right now, but plays really good defense.

Dekker doesn't start for Wisconsin so no chance he would start there this year and very questionable for next year.

Just in watching some preseason scrimmages, I would be shocked if Meyer got many minutes next year. Looked a little Brommerish to be honest. However, I understand he's probably come a long ways the last few months after working with the coaches. Just don't think he'll be much factor next year. If Gabe would redshirt, we'd still be fine because we still have Woody,Mel, Zach and White that can play the 4 & 5 I'd say. Worst case Meyer spells a few minutes if needed.
Uthoff looked rusty in those scrimmages and was getting pushed around some. I'm sure he'll be fine though, especially if he's added some weight.
Just my 2 cents

I dont care if he starts or not, it will be a nice addition either way.

Just imagine, White and Basabe need a breather and Fran can put in Uthoff and McCabe. Not bad at all.

I like that with the group that'll be together next yr the flexibility of the lineup Coach has to play with. They can play fast and small or a bigger lineup. How would you guard say this group on the court. Marble Jok White Utoff and Basabe. I'm not saying they start or play for a long stretch necesarily but that's just one group he could have out there. Not sure Utoff can play the 4 for long stretches on the defensive end but I think this group next presents mismatches for other teams in the full court and in the half court

I like that we will have competition for minutes next year, rather than, say, two years ago when we were struggling to find 5 warm bodies.

The Dekker parallel seems apt to me. Jok and JU will have an impact. Maybe one will start by the end of next year. But I like the line-up we have now. It's one I figured on at the beginning of this year. Just didn't think it would take this long to get to it. If the line-up holds out through the end of the season and continues with the improvement, it's going to be very difficult to break into it 2013-14. Even more so with it's supporting bench.

True. And I blame this somewhat on the inconsistency of officiating in the B1G ... heck, even beyond the conference. There are games were Zach's physical play matches the opponent's and is allowed. Others, it seems he gets whistled for not much contact. Has to be a bit frustrating for him and the coaches. OTOH, he has to learn how to adjust his play each game, even each stretch of a game, so as to avoid dumb, needless fouls.

I agree, the inconsistency of officiating in the B1G is horrible. Although in other leagues it seems they call anything with any kind of contact, at all.

I also agree that McCabe needs to better adjust his game to the officiating and physicality of each game.

Yeah, we're just four years removed from having Lil' Lick and Bawinkle in the lineup. Not having enough minutes for everyone is really refreshing.
