Jaron Nash....

saw an article on Nash in the Gazette. Will graduate after this year from Tyler with 3 years eligiblity. He is 6'8'' and played in PTL...anyone have a take on him? Iowa is supposedly interested as well as ISU and Marquette.
Sounds like a quick athlete.

I've never heard of him...what are his "vitals" from his Tyler career?

Edit: I see he's a Waterloo East kid...not much help, but hey, it's something!

i love that we are now "reaching" for bball recruits.

makes the 7 months between FB games more enjoyable!

Not sure what you mean. It is bb recruiting season, and we are on a bb board. Nash is an Iowa kid, who is being recruited by Iowa and who played in Prime Time league with and against many Iowa players.
Seeking a scouting report from one of many on here who attend PTL games does not seem unusual...but just me.

What exactly is considered acceptable on the bb board?

+1!

Really is kind of weird that we heard nothing about him during the whole PTL thing. Just checked the stats. Not great.

But he lands above Brommer pretty much everywhere.

we dont want jaron nash trust me.... he is not 6 foot 8 for sure and he is uncordinated he wasnt even that good in highschool average player

and i know for a fact that he wont go to iowa...very skinny kid with bad work ethic.. he plays the 3 and if you were to compare him to eric may may would eat him for breakfast... both graduated same yr to from highschool

So if his numbers are better than Brommer's across the board in PTL?
I mean i dont think the ptl really matters at all hes really skinny and i dont think he is even 185 lbs... his numbers are barely better and there is little defense played in the ptl... i mean athony james of uni is doing better than cully and he barely even played for uni last yr does that mean we want him more than cully...

Do not base things off the PTL.

If you did that, Duez Henderson would be the #1 player selected in the NBA draft. I love Duez, he gave his all as a Hawkeye.

Jaron Nash is nowhere near the player Duez was.

I just do not think we should go after a guy just because he is "an Iowa kid".

First Cully leads the league in assists. That is the job of a point guard. So the sub from UNI is not doing better.

Secondly, my comments about Nash and Brommer and stats are not meant as an argument as to why we should sign Nash...

Thirdly. Why does Duez do so well in PTL? Well, because he has been one of the best power forwards in the league for years. If Iowa had a player of his caliber to play down low it would really help.

Finally, PTL performance does provide a sense of where players are. No Iowa player worth his salt did not show it in PTL. Go back and look over the years. The better Iowa players are the better PTL players.

Have you seen him play this year in PTL?
All I am seeking is for someone who has seen him play this summer to tell me he is not a player and we are wasting time even recruiting him,or that he has progressed since HS and could be a backup plan for Fran.

No harm in recruiting him. When/if Iowa offers then decide if it's worth worrying about.

Good point. I haven't watched him too closely but did notice his athleticism. There are a lot of other recruits that I would be more excited about but I think Nash has potential. Supposedly improved a lot since he was in high school.
