Jared Armstrong

Iowa should extends it's final scholarship for 2016 to Jared Armstrong. He's a 5-10/5-11, 175/180 PG post graduate player at Mt. Zion Prep (MD). A Lansdale, PA product, attended Christopher Dock HS (PA) and then went to Fort Union Military Academy (VA). Sounds like a diamond in the rough who's a true PG with a very Earl The Pearl game style. I think Fran should get him on campus and offer this talented PG.

Any thoughts?

Here's the deal for Jared as follows:

A top-notch prospect that has been a 1st team All-State player since his sophomore year of high school. He was unfortunately never given the chance to play on a high major AAU circuit to solidify his rank. He has held offers from San Jose State and Cal Poly, but these offers dropped because of coaching changes. Jared is a mid/high major prospect who has shown that he is a winner since his sophomore year. He led the Christopher Dock High School (PA) team to back-to-back district finals. Afterwards, he transferred to Fork Union Military Academy (VA) where he averaged 17 PPG, 4.5 APG and 4 RPG. At Fork Union, he led the team to win the Prep League regular season championship and also led them to the state playoffs for the first time since the year 2010. He is currently playing for Mt. Zion Prep (MD).

Apparently we are interested. That was noted on several Tweets.

So he went to prep school for a year after high school right? If so, That would make him the equivalent of a sophomore next year. I guess he wouldn't be entirely green then....

If he was truly a 1st team All-State player in PA, why the H does he not have any scholarship offers other than two?!?

Here is one video. It doesn't not show much.

His list of offers isn't real impressive. So unless he is a diamond in the rough, I would bank that scholly.

Nice jumper, especially off balance, but the Earl the Pearl reference is interesting because he was one of a kind. This kid seems a step slow for the Big Ten.

His name is Armstrong. He plays pg. If he's fast and quick and can hit jumpers both off the dribble and spotted up I say get him. I could be wrong he doesn't seem to be as quick or athletic as me of the others I've seen recruited but I haven't seen much of any of them so what do I know.. I just want to see the name Armstrong on the back of a Hawkeye jersey again..

I'm not getting any fuzzy feeling with this one. I'm sure his height is not helping and I don't think really fits Fran's team makeup.
