Yes, he is already an excellent technician; great attitude; student of the game; probably all Big Ten before he is done. All true.

Just wondering, given that OSU's center is listed at 6'5/300lbs.

Well... James is listed at 6'2", 284 pounds. Olin Kreutz had a very successful career with the Bears from 1998-2010 included several Pro Bowls and he was 6'2", 292 pounds. So maybe James is 8 pounds short of making it to the NFL.

At 6-2, 285 he would be smaller than the average starting Center in the NFL. But not too small. There are several teams with similarly sized centers. Just depends on scheme. I think the starting center for the Eagles is 6-3, 285.

Jeff Saturday (Colts) is listed as 6-2 and 295 pounds. He's played in the league for 13 years.

I was just about to compare him to Kreutz also. The center is rarely the biggest lineman. You have to have brains and an attitude.

aren't many of the Iowa guys in the NFL too small for their position? Maybe a better way of saying this is they are smaller than ave for their position.

Casey Wiegmann, ex-Hawk and the "pride of Parkersburg", goes 6-2 and 285. He's been thought to be too small for years, but with his brains, technique, conditioning and strength has started every NFL game for 9 years ... and has something ridiculous like 9K straight offensive snaps on Sundays.

two more solid to good years anchoring a good to great o-line will get him some looks from the NFL. don't know if he'll be drafted, but sure he'll get a shot. i think he's got more potential than brian did.

I dont think he is too small for the pros hopefully he can stick with a team that or get into coaching like his family.
