Jameis Winston Accuser Speaks

No idea on what really happened but would be nice to get to the bottom of it so whomever did the wrong gets their desserts.

Our running back a few years back (Cokker) didn't get to go to the Iowa bowl game because he was accused of rape--later the accused recanted but he still did not get to go to the bowl for just being accused. Winston should be in Jail but so Florida State officials and the district attorney. This was a cover up

She stated that she believed she had been drugged. Would the blood tests done the next day not pick something like that up? If something was found in her system wouldn't the "consensual sex" defense become irrelevant? Winston is a dirt bag.

One of the things that makes date rape drugs so dangerous is how fast it leaves the system. Some of the more popular drugs spend about 12 hours in your system and if you pee before you go to the hospital you can easily remove it all from your system.

Tallahassee police stated that the complaint was made inactive "when the victim in the case broke off contact with TPD, and her attorney indicated she did not want to move forward at that time" and then re-examined after media requests for information started coming in early November. On December 5, 2013, State Attorney Willie Meggs announced the completion of the investigation and that no charges would be filed against anyone in this case, citing "major issues" with the woman's testimony.

There is a civil case starting in 2017. She is suing Jameis and Jameis is suing her for defamation.

Was the video made before this statement by the States Attorney? If not, it would have been good for the video to address it. Has she responded to it in some other context? Or are they saving it for the trial?

In the end, lawyers will get rich and nothing will happen.

No need for lawyer bashing in this case, at least yet. A case like this is almost always handled by the plaintiff's lawyer on a contingent fee basis. The lawyer will get paid only if the plaintiff wins or the case is settled. Otherwise, the lawyer will end up working the case for free. The girl will owe the lawyer's out of pocket expenses, but those are usually advanced by the lawyer and written off if the plaintiff loses. The lawyer is really taking quite a risk, spending a lot of money and time on the case, possibly for nothing. If the plaintiff wins, her lawyer will first take the expenses out of any recovery, and then share the rest with the plaintiff on a percentage bases, often 1/3 for the lawyer and 2/3 for the client. The defendant usually has to pay his lawyer on an hourly basis, which means in this case that Winston will have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more, to defend this case. He could have a contingent fee agreement with his lawyers relating to his counterclaim, but I doubt it. Winston and his lawyers don't really expect to collect anything on the counterclaim - it likely was filed as a defensive measure. The plaintiff's lawyer is probably defending the counterclaim at no additional charge.
