Jake Layman 2012 SF

Great to make it on a top prospect's list with those kind of programs but so far that's all we've been...been on lists. It doesn't matter if Fran can't close the deal.

Really good player who starting to come along. Great athlete and has good height. Little thin. Rumors are that he is a heavy Maryland lean

Funny how those early ins seem to work out. Let's see how that works with Woodbury.

Layman reportedly cut his list to 5 and eliminated Iowa...

Jake Layman, a 2012 small forward from King Philip Regional in Massachusetts, has a top five, according to his mother, Claire. Layman has set up four official visits for the month of September. He will trip to Syracuse, Florida, Louisville and Maryland. The final school is Wake Forest, where no visits have been set up just yet. The big forward ran with BABC this summer and could be a legit threat at the next level with his long wingspan and high basketball IQ

Sometimes I wish you would.

I look forward to the day (hopefully not too long from now) when we don't have to hear those kind of comments re: Iowa recruiting against other good basketball schools. It will be nice when we are back in the mindset that we DESERVE to be listed among them and we EXPECT the commitments to choose Iowa over the others. I think Fran, step by step and brick by brick, is cultivating the relationships and constructing the pipelines to make that happen. I am more confident each day of Adam Woodbury's committing to Iowa. I am very excited about the future of Iowa basketball. Lets go Fran! Finish this class strong. And Adam, and I am sure you read these boards, come on aboard and be part of something truly special in the making!

I think this school of thought can end, Gessel is a great get by Fran, he targeted Mike and closed the deal. Meyer is a good prospect that Fran got on early and secured him. Maybe this train of thought will go away when Woodbury signs with Iowa. Iowa is targeting players that they want and getting those players, that is good enough for me.
