Izzo charges out on the court, No Tech as I can tell

Interesting. So you are questioning every big ten officials integrity of calling a fair game including Eddie Hightower who Fran spoke highly of recently when Eddie made his last trip to Carver.

And if you truly believe that this favoritism happens you better acknowledge that we will unfairly get calls against Nebraska, Northwestern, peen state and the other bottom teams because it will help keep more big ten teams in the top 25 and help the reputation of the strength of the conference.

Am I to believe we get the benefit in those games using your theories??

Until you guys can put up some hard evidence of this so called favoritism.... I'll keep "my head in the sand."

LOL - You must not watch ANY college basketball. Seriously!

So did you see IZZO and his actions from start to finish, which is the reason for this thread? If you did, then your head is in the sand. If you didn't I would encourage you to watch it and try to comprehend why no T was called on Izzo? The threads I have seen have all stated that Izzo, Matta, and Ryan seem to get special treatment from the officials because they work them hard with no punitive actions...

Speaking of Fran saying good things about Hightower... I've heard lots of coach's say glowing things about the other teams they are playing or other schools, when you no they really don't care for them and are being polite. Yes, I believe your head is in the sand.

Yes I saw the video and there is a huge difference in the way Izzo is communicating in comparison to how Fran was at Wisconsin. This difference I'm referring to is body language which is a huge part of communication.

In Fran's case the referee was standing his ground and Fran walked at a fast pace directly towards him which is a sign of aggression.

In Izzo's case, the referee is walking towards him and he is walking backwards which is a more of a sign of submission, letting the ref know they are still in charge.

I could go back and give at least 10 examples of calls that went against Wisonsin. You must not understand that's how basketball officiating works.

You get some calls, you don't get some. It's that simple. Every time we lose there is a thread about how we got jobbed by the officials.

We **** opportunities down our leg. We miss free throws. At Wisconsin we had a 4-2 fast break with an opportunity to dig out of the hole that Fran dug and tie the game but White turns the ball over on a pass that goes untouched out of bounds.

It's just silly.... this blame the ref mentality.

Again, still can not talk about the officiating to the media at any time. Izzo did and there has been no talk of a fine. Most other coaches speak out about the refs will be fined. This is what I find a bit off.

Becuase nobody believes it... other than over the top fans.

So about 75% of us are "over the top fans"? Like others have asked are you even watching college basketball? These veteran coaches at the respected schools get the calls. I do not think officials go into any game thinking they show favoritism but the respect they have for these coaches and schools plays a part whether they realize it or not. I have been an umpire and the coaches that are always in your ear (along with parents (ie fans) are always in the back of your mind when making calls. If you start questioning yourself and try to do "make up" calls things can turn into a mess, I have been there and done that. My experiences are not anywhere close to the pressures these officials face, multiply it by about 1000. Every official is human and have emotions, they do the best they can to not show it but it happens. When you got 15K fans screaming and a coach barking it will have an effect.

No argument here.

However, I just want to simply note that decision would come from the Big 10 office and a fine has no bearing on the impact of the games like many are arguing in regards to preferential treatment of certain coaches.

And when they have finally had enough and decide to hit a coach with a T it rarely is a Ryan, Izzo or Matta.

I hate to say this but I think my dad is right. They should go back to the way they use to call a game. If you touch a player it’s a foul. He said the only times it was not a foul is a screen other than that it was a foul. It would make playing defense hard and allow for higher scoring games.

Nope... just wish he wouldn't have gotten two T's and tossed in what could have been a big win for the Hawks.

For the record... I had 0 issues with him being tossed in the UNI game that was officiated much worse than the Wisconsin game and he did it at a point that the game was already decided.

Play proper defense and this isn't a factor! All guards want to ride the defender with a hand literally on his hip to slow him down. Post players want to grab, stick a knee in your ***, etc. This is not good defense.

Instead of complaining about refereeing, you should be complaining about lack of defense.
