Izzo charges out on the court, No Tech as I can tell

Izzo charged out on the court tonite, going across midcourt from his bench to yell and scream at the refs. And as far as I could tell there was no tech given,

WTF!!!! Come on, if Fran gets double T, suspension, and fine, and nothing happens to izzo then this is pure ********, izzo should have been teed up, no doubt.

Total double standards and the B1G is becoming a joke. Actually the reffing in the B1g has been a joke since the late 70's.

As someone put it in another thread, bball is almost unwatchable now.

The way the conference protects its money-cow "pretty boys" -- namely Ryan, Izzo and Matta -- is disgusting, and why I didn't mind Fran being so demonstrative the other night. Unfortunately, no one in the media in BoneG country nor the national sports media is willing to call Delany on it.

Sorry, but I can't help but laugh at those of you who think Izzo will get treated the same by the B1G and the officials. Come on now, you all know Izzo is the good boy of the conference and if he says a call is wrong then it must be wrong. That official will probably get a call from the league office telling him he needs to clean it up, especially when MSU is playing.

Double standard..it $ucks..Many of the posters on this board are throwing Fran under the bus for doing what many of the coaches do in this league.

I like Fran, I love his passion and how he turned this program around after the Lick years is incredible. But just because other coaches fly off the handles does not make it right and is still not conduct I would like to see from Fran. Especially now we know he is a marked man by the league office, I want the players determining the outcome of the games and not having to make up for 4 points that the coach allowed the other team to score because he went nuts.

I agree with what you say but my point is right after Fran gets double Teed up Izzo can charge out on the court and yell at officials without a Tech. That is ********.

There is a coaches box and going out on the floor should be an auto Tech which somehow doesnt matter for izzo.

I cannot disagree, it is not fair but Izzo is not under the same rules Fran is. The officials obviously have a LOT of respect for Izzo. It sucks but that is the way it is. Izzo is one of those that gets home town calls no matter where he is playing and it is a huge advantage for MSU.

Regardless of him not getting a T, he talked about the officials to the media, that's a fine no matter how you look at it.

Mad Fran threw a fake punch at the first ref, bull rushed the second ref and chased down the third ref. Doesn't even compare.

I like Fran as a coach and I like his approach to coaching...including his relationship with his players. If he thinks his guys are getting hosed on calls or sees some strategic advantage to getting a T then I'm fine with it. I don't blame him a bit for getting tossed at UNI. He did not intend to get tossed the other night and certainly wishes he hadn't gotten tossed but it happened...water under the bridge. I think the circumstances are questionable at best and can live with it and move on without concern.

The B1G had a Big Stage last night to display two of it's premier teams and show that B1G bball is not just all pushing, shoving, handchecking, thuggery and the officials failed miserably in not calling the game as intended by the NCAA.

Anybody that can't see the Big10 protects/ gives advantages to certain schools needs to rethink things. This conference is all about money and TV ratings now.

Fran needs to work on his word choice and body control when confronting the refs. Certain expletives really get them fired up. Fran earned his T's from 2 different refs.

Still can't talk about the refs. Izzo should be fined.
when Fran was asked about the refs he just said 'I can't talk about that as much as I'd like to'

I disagree. The first one was warranted. He was following the first ref who T'd him up and the other one cut him off. When Fran bumped into him, he tossed him. We've all seen many times where a ref engages in certain theatrics to make things look worse than they really are and I believe this is one of those cases. He cut Fran off, engaged the contact and tossed him immediately. As an official, he should have stepped in front of Fran and calmly stopped him from pursuing the other ref. If, at that point, Fran kept trying to push through him, you T him up the second time and toss him. That's how you keep control of the situation. The official handled it very poorly IMO.
