Ivory Kelly-Martin Emerges from Hawkeye Running Back Pack

Didn't see that coming. I think all 3 will get their touches, but it seems like Iowa is emphasizing speed/elusiveness.

Well let's see, I said IKM was going to be really good. I said Nate was going to get a shot at the pros.
Imagine how I could scout in person rather than just tape. Lol
I know we have at least one DB/safety that will play on Sunday as well, but that's pretty easy to figure out with Phil running things.

I was impressed with IKM last year. Loved watching him. I'll wait to see if the OLine can open holes .

I like it. We'll still see all three, and I'd expect they'll all play well. But the fact that IKM is elevating himself is great.

I like the way he runs. Good acceleration, good balance. Use Toren like we did LSD. All three will play a role.

I really like this mix of RB's. I think their skills complement each other well. I actually see Sergent ending up with the 2nd most carries by the end of the year. Young will get a lot of work to, but I think Sergent with his skills and experience are showing now.

This will be the post I look back to when AIRBHG crushes the top 5 Iowa RBs this year.

I think it'll be a hot hand situation. Maybe even a matchup and situational type of deal. Young will most likely be the short yardage/goal line rb. I just hope they all stay healthy but the odds are no less than one of them will get nicked up.

Yea, I can see that, but, the guy that blocks the best will have the upper hand.

This does not really surprise me, IKM was obviously the faster back last year and had more big play potential than Young.

Still, Wadley was the backup to Daniels all 2016 even though Wadley had more big play potential, so I was assuming they would start Young over IKM.

But maybe the difference in size is not that big between Young and IKM, at least not as big as it was between Wadley and Daniels. So why not start the guy who is faster and who catches the ball better?

Looked it up

Toren Young.
5' 11" 220 pounds

Ivory Kelly Martin
5' 11" 201 pounds

Mekhi Sargent
5' 11" 215 pounds

Akrum Wadley
5' 11" 170 pounds (190 pounds now)

Leshun Daniels
6' 0" 225 pounds

So basically there was a big difference in size between Wadley and Daniels. Like 55 pounds difference at the time.

IKM is a little smaller than Young and Sargent but it's only a 15-20 pound difference. Not enough to keep IKM from starting if IKM is the most talented back.

And to add to that, remember that LeShun Daniels was pretty explosive in his own right. He didn't have the niftiness of Wadley, but he had very good straight speed for a back his size. He had 5 runs of 50+ yards his senior year (2 called back on penalties).

Very disappointed the Molly thread got stopped. It's nice to be able to vent after something like this.

Would make sense. This is KF we're talking about though.
