I've had it...

Maybe, maybe not. If we throw the punter for a 10 yard loss and we start on the 45 and score a touchdown, we now have the lead in the 4th quarter with momentum. I don't believe michigan st. would have looked so good if they had a 4th quarter deficit. They have a history of losing as many close games as Iowa does. That being said, our chances of scoring a touchdown at that time was about 3%

People you need to realize that the fake punt is an option for these teams.

The punters are coached on these fake punt calls so that if we rush then they punt but if we turn and run downfield they have a clear field to run.

KFs teams always used to rush the punter and block some punts. We are so slow now they dont even try it but we still need to rush with 6 guys just to make sure and force them to punt and we get the ball back.

IT AINT FRIGGIN ROCKET SCIENCE, but for some reason we keep making the same mental mistakes

And just what are the expectations for Iowa Football. There are critics out there that say it's as good as it's going to get. There are certain types of recruits that just aren't coming to Iowa to play regardless of who the coach is. True or not, I don't know. So is it Kirk's inability to coach correctly or the talent we get. When NFL coaches are looking for lineman, prepared and ready for the NFL they know Kirk is one of the best. We lack speed in certain positions and wide receivers. We just can't get them because Iowa isn't known for speed but for power and methodical, predictable play making, with an occasional whoopy-doo play. I don't get it.

This type of football worked great in the 80's. Not so much today.

Change can be scary for most people. But sometimes it is the only way to make a program, company or whatever the situation we are in better. Can it backfire? Sure, there are chances we take when a change is made. However, without change we know what the final result will be if we've seen the same thing for 2, 3 or 4 years in a row. The longer and deeper a hole is dug the harder it will be to get out.

I said this a few years back and am more convinced as I type this. While KF knows more about football than 99% of us on this board, the modern game of football passed him by a while ago. Rebuilding a program after 15 years by going to a no huddle offense and adding a few blitzes is not a recipe for success. They still run the same boring stuff. I am tired of hearing we are in a rebuilding phase. 15 years people!

Sadly or maybe hopefully, a younger coach with more passion and a willingness to use the types of philosophies being used today would serve this program better. Seeing the student section partially empty yesterday was troubling but understanding. I love Iowa Football but find their style of play woefully boring. When me and my 15 year old son are watching a game and calling an offensive play when they lineup, isn't it obvious the other team knows as well?

For those of us Hawk fans and native Iowans living outside of Iowa I have news for you. Iowa football is laughed at quite often now. For better or worse the college football is about speed and action. Iowa offers little of either.

I will always be a Hawk fan, but don't have to be a fan of the head coach.

That's all.

I couldn't believe how many people were heading for the gates when there were 7 minutes left and we had all of our timeouts. Sad and completely embarrassing.

As much as it sucks, I can believe it. When was the last time Iowa scored twice in the last +/- 7 minutes to come back and win a game? I have a short memory, but I can't remember any times. I couldn't even bear the thought to watch the last 5 minutes on TV. I had to get a drink and watch the Presidents cup to calm down.

Two years ago against Pittsburgh they came back from 17 down to win in the 4th quarter. It could have happened, I was disappointed that Hawk fans were streaming out of the stadium at the 7 minute mark. They do the same crap in basketball, all the old farts bolt for the door during the last TV timeout.

You're correct about that. Lack of talent. Lack of coaching. Lack of offensive imagination. Lack killer instinct. Lack of expectations. Nepotism. Upperclassman-ism (is that a word? It should be). All of those reasons had much more to do with the loss.

lol really? this had to do with the loss? be careful, your immaturity is showing
