I don't hunt but I don't care if someone else does. I also don't care if someone doesn't like the fact that people hunt and they voice their opinion on it. If I did hunt it wouldn't offend me at all if someone voiced their opinion about not liking hunters. People shouldn't care so much about what other people do or say.

You're right. Character assassination is a good thing that people shouldn't concern themselves with.
I have no problem with anyone hunting, in fact I have lots of friends that hunt. The problem I have is bating the animal then killing it. And to top it off you take a picture with it like your some kind of"mountain man". Maybe instead of pretending to be a real hunter on his time off he could pretend to be an efficient quarter back!?!
I'm all for sticking up for people when they need it I just don't think dissing someone for being a hunter is one of those times. I think that is being a little to sensitive.

And what does hunting have to do with playing quarterback? That's what all of this is actually about. And suggesting that Vandenberg lacks heart in some way because he took the trip in the first place is not just dissing a hunter because he hunts. That's just a new angle from which to attack Vandy's on-field performance (which I've criticized plenty). The most insensitive person in the world can see that.
But wouldn't you say that argument is to stupid to take seriously anyway?

Like I said in the forum rules thread: If the rules are going to be completely ignored, why have them at all? People post basically whatever they want, because people (including Jon) seem willing to let almost anything slide, for the very reason you just stated.
I think people who let their lives seemingly hang in the balance based on the performance of a 18-23 year old college kid are short-d!cked losers who can't satisfy a woman, so they find their masculinity by living vicariously through said college kid.
Wonder how long I'd last before getting banned if I kept posting that kind of stuff about posters on this site?

Are you more upset that I think JVB baiting an animal to kill it makes him a *******, or that Jon hasn't reprimanded me for calling him a ******* for doing so? Or is it that I suggested that I am far less patient with him as a QB as a result of me thinking that he is a *******?
Either way, I stand by what I said in this thread.
1) JVB isn't very good.
2) The people most able to help him become better are instead making him worse, and for that he deserves a break.
3) Baiting an animal to kill it for fun makes me like you less, so I am far less forgiving for item #1.
I seriously doubt that JVB cares what Bruce Springsteen thinks about him. Stanzi was a fan, this guy not so much.

tm, youre not gonna win. Im not saying I dont agree with you though. I am totally ok with hunting for food. But, I have agree with these guys on bear baiting. Thats not hunting. Now, if the person eats the bear, uses the skin and fur, ect, I have a little less problem with that. But im also not gonna take a stand against it, like some have here.
That said, I think attacking our own guys for something that is completely within the law is low. Even though they disagree with it. The guy has been a great Hawkeye, gives his team his all(even though hes having a bad year, or even less than great starting career), and has been a good role model for Kids.
I also cant understand why Jon hasnt pulled this thread either. Attacking JVB is clearly against the rules...

I don't like how people have used his hunting trip as a reason for his poor play, or that it's indicative of a lack of heart when it comes to football.
On top of that, it's something that has nothing to do with football. It looks like a different peg to hang the bashing on in a thread that was supposedly an apology thread. "Oh, I'm very sorry about all this football stuff. But you're a ****** for hunting."
Somehow, I doubt that comes up if Iowa were 6-0 and Vandy were lighting it up.

You jelly, I'm sure a young man like JVB can mount all the trophies he cares to.
On FB note, I think we have become way more conservative than even last year. It's almost as if the staff has no faith in our talent level, and the last thing they want is a turnover.
