I've been as critical of KF as anyone but...

I didn't see any coaching decisions that cost us the game yesterday. I didn't see a scheme that cost us the game yesterday.

Yesterday we flat out sucked. Maybe the team is just not very good.

You want to complain about KF for something, complain about the talent level on the team. That is 100% his fault.

But yesterday wasn't Minnesota or Wisconsin from last year. I didn't see us getting out coached yesterday. I saw us getting out worked, out muscled, out played.

That is on KF too - but he wasn't out coached.

I disagree.

Iowa was out coached and outplayed yesterday.

Plenty of coaching blunders with Defensive sets. Clock management SUCKED. Iowa should have had more time on the drive before the half. Iowa takes yet another Timeout to the Locker room at the half. Go Figure. I could go on and on.

Special Teams continue to struggle. You can pin point the change in our special teams play when Norm started to really struggle with his health. That has hurt us here as well.

The repeated mistakes are an absolute indictment of this staff.
Fake punts, FG's, on-side kicks, LB's covering WR's, clock mis-management.

There has been plenty/many good things as well, such as player development.

During the first half of KF's tenure, repeated mistakes didn't happen. They happen almost weekly now. Just ask yourself one question...If Purdue runs a fake punt next week, do you think Iowa will stop it? I don't & I think that speaks loudly.

Coaches have some blame but not that much. tanner miller had a pick...didnt make them pay...neilsen couldnt make the play...and the lines couldnt get any push...we just aee not very talented.

The players made countless mistakes, but it comes down to recruiting then. MSU has better athletes and faster athletes . Outside of WR, they are similar, better, and sometimes grossly better at almost every other position. I'd give Bell the nod over Coker too.

I didn't have a problem with our scheme. We came real close several times to making the play, but just didn't and then the game was out of hand. We should have abandoned the running game way earlier than we did though.

I'm sure MSU fans were saying the same thing last year and the year before that and the year before that and the 22 years between wins in Kinnick.

The coaches gave them 14 points at the end of the first half for playing their typical conservative BS. I understand we were at our 3 yard line but were 3 minutes left and MSU having all their timeouts you cant just come out and run twice. (especially when our running game didnt do anything all game)

Speaking of the running game. How many times were we gonna to try to run between the tackles and get 1-2 yards until we realized it wasnt working?

It didn't cost us the game, but once again, our coaching staff was caught off guard by a fake FG.
I swear if the opponent lined up for a punt or FG on 1st down our staff would fall for it.

Yesterday was not on the coaches. It was on squarely on the offense. The only good news heading into next season is that Iowa should be relatively deep at every position on offense. But Iowa is going to have to be more aggressive on offense. Iowa can set the tone this season by finishing strong on offense and both of the remaining games are winnable. But the Hawks must outscore opponents. They need to take chances on defense and offense. At this point the special teams are what they are.

We came back yesterday. MSU was floundering in the 3rd and early 4th quarters. 3 and out...3 and out.

IMO, the 4th and 1 penalty with 10 minutes left when we were driving for yet another score killed it. Had we gone on to score, we would have won.

And I've been as critical as anyone about leaving time/TO's on the board during the end of the halves, but yesterday, as crappy as we played and the ball bouncing MSU's every conceivable way, it made sense just to get off the field before something else untowards happened.

The major questionable coaching moves in my mind was the playcalling in the second quarter when we were backed up to our goaline, down 17-7. At that point the game was entirely within reach, we hadn't really been outplayed, just one bad turnover.

But it was obvious we had to get the ball out of our own redzone, or MSU was going to get an extremely short field. We run a stretch play (that hadn't worked yet) for no gain. We run Rodgers up the gut for a yard, then we run a one-man route that wasn't even first-down distance. We punt, MSU scores a TD. Huge turn in the game. I know we didn't want to turn the ball over down their or get a safety, but going 3 and out was essentially a turnover (MSU got the ball at our 35). We had to be more aggressive getting the ball out of their, instead we coiled into a shell. I thought that sequence was a huge point in the game. Made it a hard game to win from their on.

the biggest mistakes yesterday were not on the coaches. when your on your 3 yrd line with 3 min. left you don't throw 3 times. notice the one pass was incomplete which stops the clock and doesn't force msu to use time outs. could we have called better run plays, sure. we didn't execute which is not always on the coaching staff. remember players play the game not coaches. I am fed up with the coaching staff like everyone else but to put the blame all on the coaches yesterday is just stupid and idiotic.

what we are missing on this team is a true leader. I know, I know mcnutt is a leader but he doesn't touch the ball every snap. we need a field general and we don't have one this year. hopefully vandy will find himself and step up and be that man. if not then coker has to as he is our work horse.

yes msu is more talented than us this year. this is why we couldn't make any mistakes. but we did and we lost. simple as that.

I don't think it was on the coaches, the players didnt execute. The only problem I have with the coaches yesterday was their unwillingness to put in a RB to try something different. I like Coker but all he can do is hope he gets a hole because he isn't a great running back he is just big and can pick up some yards up the middle.

Put another option in there and see if a speedier back can get some yardage outside or on some cutbacks.

It sticks out in my mind on that 3rd and 7-8 in the 4th, Coker made a cut back, there was a huge hole for him to pick up 15-20 yards and he got caught from behind after a 6-7 yard gain to make it 4th and 1, then we have the false start. If we had a speedier guy he would have picked it up no problem on 3rd.

This didn't lose the game for us and I like all the coaches I just don't get that they have to stick with the same skill guys all the time. The announcers were talking about how Coker leads the big ten in yards but they also said that he is basically the only back that doesn't have a counterpunch, he gets all the carries, no other big ten team does that.
