You know the nitty on that side of the BIG better than most of us. Got no beef with any of that, except ... Wanna see him finish as a Hawk. He's more than made up for that IMO, playing 3 great seasons for the team, and now can go and get life changing money for a family that is facing a lot of financial hardships. He's going for the biggest bag from what I understand.
I still haven't seen contract details. Also curious.![]()
New Indiana coach Darian DeVries will make $27 million over 6 years plus incentives
New Indiana coach Darian DeVries’ six-year contract will pay him at least $27 million, according to the binding term sheet DeVries signed in March when he accepted the job.apnews.com
Does anyone know how this compares to what Iowa is paying McCollum?
I understand the competitive disadvantages we're going to experience and I agree that there is room for concern, but at the same time weren't we also under a competitive disadvantage with Fran at the helm where we ignored the importance of defense and rebounding to play a style in which we simply tried to win games by outscoring our opponents? For multiple reasons I have a difficult time being excited for the coaching change. I think the major issue is dealing with the competitive disadvantages the new coach has compared to his peers. As a fan I want the best, as a realist I know what an uphill battle he has ahead.
I knew that things couldn't continue as they were and the new direction college sports has taken required a different mind set than Fran's. I won't miss Fran's substitution blunders and his occasional wierd behavior. Nor will I miss the porous defense played by scrawny underclassmen.
I do hope Ben McCollom can bring the fan base back to the arena with a fundamentally strong team.
I believe it is $3.2 or $3.3.![]()

Well the good news is Ben doesn't really have to coach any former Fran players.Ben has his work cut out for him teaching any of Fran's former players how to play defense........... of course that is what benches are for right???
That's what I licked about Lute O, you don't play defense you don't play.
The other good news is that all the players coming over from Drake will all know they will be expected to work their asses off on defense and apparently, they are all alright with that.Well the good news is Ben doesn't really have to coach any former Fran players.
