It's officially official--Walk BMC is coming to Iowa

Defense was not stressed under McCaffrey and there were really no consequences if they had a breakdown. That will not happen with McCollum. The bench is a great motivator.
That's assuming he is able to recruit some depth. Fran didn't stress defense it appeared, but he didn't have much depth, so to sit say Dix or Sandfort because they were getting schooled and bring in an upgrade off the bench wasn't happening.

Nope Don’t agree. Dix is an elite defender in this new world. Does he get blown by? Yeah. But not much. And the same guys that are critical of Dix and Harding continually gripe about Iowa not having a point guard that can blow by opponents. Duh. I would welcome both of them back in a heartbeat. Dix is looking at 1 million $ in the portal and Harding has enjoyed interest from some solid power 5’s. Google it.
Scratching my head on your response. It's sounds like you are agreeing with me on choosing Dix over Harding. You stated 'Dix is an elite defender in this new world." Elite is well above being just an average player. You didn't say that Harding was an elite player.

Remember when Alfraud 'borrowed' the riding lawnmower from the place there in IC then didn't return it or pay for it?

OK, ok, back to BM.........
Never understood those types. If you’re a gazillionaire like that you can literally walk into any dealership/store/showroom, point at something, say “I want that” and hand them a credit card. Tell them what address to drop it off at and you’re aces. Easy peasy and you’ll make more in interest that day than that lawnmower’s even worth.

I'm not so sure depth was a big issue except maybe the post. Playing in his system at that level is going to wear guys down. He played guys in stretches for too many minutes. It caused players to be gassed and to not be able to defend at a decent level. Fran never really used the TV timeouts to his advantage to get his best players rest. Almost every game the guys that started would not get a rest until the 14-12 minute mark of a half. Some would go to the 10 minute mark or later. That is a recipe for disaster in that type of system. It is one of the main reasons they lost to Iowa St and Michigan St.

Dix is getting offers close to 2 million and I've heard that from multiple sources close to Creighton and Nebraska, and it's not from either of those schools, but one pretty close and east of us.

Well I'm not sure about his previous seasons at MO ST but this yr at Drake Ben didn't play a lot of players. He had a really short bench and his starters played a lot of mins. PG Stirtz or however it's spelled played damn near the whole game all the time.

I don't know if that's something McCullum will want to continue. I don't think it's feasible in the BIG to want to run on a 7-8 man rotation most of the time. These next few weeks will be interesting. There's like 500 players in the portal so far... There's no shortage of options out there.

Well BIG schools all got the best looks at him so of course the ones needing a combo guard would throw their hats in the ring. It seems like if Creighton ponies up they should be in the drivers seat.. But who knows what he's thinking and who'll win the bidding war.

Too bad since Iowa supported him after he broke his leg.
He's more than made up for that IMO, playing 3 great seasons for the team, and now can go and get life changing money for a family that is facing a lot of financial hardships. He's going for the biggest bag from what I understand.

As much as I hate to lose Josh, I don't look at it this way. He probably played at Iowa this past year at a huge discount. There were a ton of rumors of him going to Creighton and I'm sure there were other schools interested. He deserves to grab some good money while he can and we can't give that to him, unfortunately.

Ben's preference is kid's who can shoot over 40% from the three point line. They also must come from a winning program. He recruits shooters and teaches them defense. 70 % of practice time is focused on defense. He had to alter his offense this year at Drake because he did not have 5 shooters on the floor.

Ben has his work cut out for him teaching any of Fran's former players how to play defense........... of course that is what benches are for right???

That's what I licked about Lute O, you don't play defense you don't play.

I kept posting: Call a TO, Fran

Over and over every game

And shouted it at the TV
