It's Been a While Since Iowa has been rankled

Doesn't shock me at all to be honest. Iowa fans are the pretty girl, not super hot, but very pretty, that thinks she is fat and disgusting. Iowa State fan has a program in which mediocrity is their absolute peak and they are ready to fire their coach. Meanwhile Iowa fan has won conference championships, been a top 10 program etc. and Kirk will continue to get support as he continues to lose with a boring product. If ISU fires Rhoads before Iowa gets rid of Ferentz I will absolutely lose it. What would that say about Iowa?

The most shoking thing I took from that list is it shows iowa state has actually been ranked before.

I know everyone (including me) gets tired of the "look at how much the coach makes" talk. But if this particular instance, I just can't help but be disgusted with how many resources the program has, how much money we pay the coach, compared to what we get in results in return. It's to the point now where it's crazy to look at how below average Iowa is in the landscape of the Power 5 conferences and it's just accepted. I can afford to not be as patient as Jon, and do a total 180 if Iowa wins out, but I am 99% sure there is no chance of that happening. Things will not change under KF. The program desperately needs a change.

It's been a long time since the team was rankled, true. But the fans are rankled right now. Hopefully rankled enough to carry some colorful cardboard suggestions into our final three games.

It's actually worse if you use the Coaches poll as Minnesota was ranked this year and ISU was ranked in early 2012, so our drought trails only Purdue and Indiana in the B10.

Four MAC schools (NIU, Toledo, Ohio & Kent State) and Nevada, Hawaii, Tulsa and......AND Illinois have been ranked more recently that Iowa. Wow...just wow!

Yep, for all the complaining about KF's contract, I felt than (and still do) that after winning the Orange Bowl in 2009, when KF was given his big extension through 2020, that he had earned his salary, although even at the time, I thought that extending through 2020 was a bit excessive. Problem is, KF has produced very little since then.

Sense of entitlement on my part? Perhaps. But in January 2010, it seemed reasonable to assume that the results that were produced in the 2000's, pre-extension, were going to continue (more or less) into the next decade. It hasn't.

Instead, the program has completely gone off the cliff. Forget the up's and down's, we're looking at 5 straight years of finishing the year un-ranked. At this point, that's more than just a valley between the peaks. It's getting into "the program is what it is" territory.

KF can't help he was handed a huge long term contract. Was he going to say "no thank you"?

BUT....What does this say about Gary Barta. I don't know him, but I'm guessing he doesn't have what it takes to pull the trigger unless his own contract is put in a position to be ousted. Which I guess you climb up the command chain then...

So is Sally Mason rankled enough to create waves if the $ is still rolling in with no specific stipulations? Doubtful. It is up to the large boosters and contributors that aren't straddled by endowments to call for any change.

Is she even aware? And I agree with your take on the boosters. It's cost savings for them to zip the wallet shut until something is done. Let's start with Barta since kfootball's buyout may be a bit too much to swallow. But, if it isn't, then clean house. And you're right; kfootball didn't twist any arms to put the contract in front of him. But he'd be under performing at $1 mil per.

Good stuff Jon. However, it didn't make me feel bad...we've known that unranked stat for weeks now. Whats unreal is all the people calling for Bob Stoops head....sure they are OU, but put his record up against KF's (If you haven't already) and you will be astonished. What is even more alarming is how poor KF's Big Ten record is given how many years the league has been down....not to mention his record when a 10 point favorite versus the other Big 10 coaches. Oh BTW, KF has collected over $17,000,000.00 since we were last ranked....sickening.

You know its bad when Miller has had enough of this regime.

Miller has been much more patient then the average fan.

This pretty much right now is unacceptable.
