ISU TD with less than 2 minutes to play

Can someone tell me WHY Arnaud is still in the game? To break the "streak" against our third team? Seriously, that was embarrasing. Clowns, that was an absolute joke and you should be ashamed. Whatever, as far as Hawk fans are concerned the streak lives!!! Great job FIRST TEAM D, you did your job and held them scoreless.

That was BS. Honestly the only team in the country that would do that is iowa state. Arnaud's first career (in four starts) TD vs us. And it came with a minute to go against our 3rd team. What a joke!

classless, put in your second team. You got destroyed, get some other kids in the game that otherwise might not ever get in. What's the point?

To end their streak of not scoring a TD against us in four years. They did not want to hear about not scoring one in five years from now until next September.

even ferentz said after the game that we had some of our second team guys out of position on the play- he was displeased by the lack of our execution on the play.

I only care about winning. Whether we shut out the opponent is immaterial to me. Stats are crap...trophies matter.

you are actually right kobe - listen to rodes postgame presser and he says that since they scored that last minute TD the press won't have anything to write about. He actually referenced that scoring drought without directly mentioning it, so yes, he was trying to eliminate that stat in keeping his 1st team in. actually quite embarrassing for him, IMO.

yea, i really don't hold anything against iowa state for that crappy touchdown. honestly, they looked so bad that whole game on O that i wouldn't have pulled the starters- i'd be wanting them to get some more work in. injury risk, sure... but...

Sorry ... but some of you guys are clueless.

It's all about getting as many quality reps with your starters in as possible.

Rhoads and his OC, Herman, were being very smart. It's all about development early in the season. Even though they had gotten killed ... they still had an opportunity to develop a rhythm and move forward as a starting unit.

Furthermore, having broken Iowa's streak of keeping them out of the end-zone also allowed them to get past some possible psychological hang-ups too.

Agreed. Try to find something positive to take away from the game and try to build off it for next week (even if it is against our 2nd string).

plus, now we have one more reason to make fun of the clowns. embarrassing for them, IMO, and their fans are embarrassed as well. use it.

I lost ALOT of respect for Paul Rhodes today...you don't do that...it would have served him right if Robinson or Arnaud went down with a season ending injury...I couldn't believe that...let some kids experience the game that might not get to.

It's win-win for Hawk fans. We still get to make fun of them ... and if they improve as a result of it ... then it will make us look that much better if they end up going bowling.

you can't be serious.

the clowns better just worry about their next win. they ain't bowling this year. And let's get serious - they shouldn't have been last year either - ISU or MN - if they aren't in the B10/B12, they ain't bowling last year either.

clowns will be fortunate to win 4 games this year. And if you set that as the O/U I'd take the U. They might get by Colorado as Hawkins might be out and the team will be in disarray at the end of the year. And UNI - I don't know how they are this year after losing all their players from last year.

But Kansas, KSU, MO, Texas, OU, TT, etc. Clowns aren't beating any of those teams.

initially i thought it was a complete bush league move at the time, the starters should not have been in the game...on the other hand it was extremely important for isu to have this 'monkey' off their back psychologically. it still ticks me off because i loved that stat, but now the statement can be "one bull$**t td in the last 20 quarters.

jeez guys... yea that stat was cool. but you know what's cooler? 35-7.

Also... 2-0. I'll take both of those over this touchdown discussion.

ISU should have their hands full with EVERY team they face ... no doubt. They definitely COULD fare poorly this year. However, I really think that ISU has it within them to beat UNI, KSU, Kansas, and Colorado. Thus, that suggests that it could be well within their reach to have AT LEAST 5 wins on the season. Furthermore, I wouldn't count out ISU against Texas Tech or Mizzou. Frankly, I think that they're capable of splitting those two games. If that happens ... then yeah, they could go 6-6 on the season ... and that would make them bowl eligible.

Of course, I admit that that is still probably a bit of a best-case scenario for them. However, it's not a pie-in-the-sky scenario either.

Not sure if I see that Homer. Their defense just doesn't look nearly strong enough to play with those teams. I was watching our young linemen driving guys ten yards downfield. It has the chance to get real ugly when they play some of these Big 12 O's.

They really do need to step down in competion.

Difference between Kirk and Hayden.
Hayden might very well have put the 1st team defense back in the game to preserve the shutout after seeing that ISU had full intention of playing their 1st team offense to score a TD and end the TD streak.

There was a reason Hayden sometimes had his Hawk teams score 40+, 50+ and sometimes 60+ points on the Cyclones.

He wanted to make damn sure that Iowa dominated in-state recruiting for the next year.

I don't mind that KF takes his foot off the gas. I think that goes back to his first few years at Iowa when other teams would completely dismantle the Hawks. Kirk probably didn't enjoy those experiences and doesn't want to inflict them on other teams.
