ISU looking Good

Stann rushed for over a thousdand yards last year I believe. Has Hampton ever done that before he blew his knee, a severe injury for any football player? Also, there is the thing called an O line. NIU had a big and experienced line. Iowa returns two starters. Saturdays cupcake should show us how much the Iowa O line has learned in camp. They looked pretty bad their first scrimmage.
Don't even argue hypothetical with these guys. Last year they never mentioned UNI's special teams getting two field goals blocked. You take away all the Interceptions last year and Iowa would have went undefeated. You'll never hear anyone mention that ISU had two td's called back, and coulda had a 35-0 lead at half. ISU didn't move the ball on NIU. NIU was missing tackes and giving ISU all of that.

decent year by ISU standards? 2-4 wins?

Ah ok I'll give them 5. J/k I haven't looked at their schedule so I would be guessing.

I think they have lot of room for improvement, but there is some talent there. Just young. They will probably have trouble getting last years wins (7?)

Except nobody here has said that.

Could you be a bit more vague? Is that referring to spring?
No, I was referring to their fall camp, where the run game didn't get going till the third string D was in. I am a fence sitting Iowa fan, with a friend who works in the Biology department, and he told me they were having their woes. Jon Miller was nervous about this group earlier too. They may have ironed out these problems, but you never know till the product sees the field.

Interesting. Gerry DiNardo (BTN analyst) said that out of all the offensive lines he saw at fall (why do they call it that, it's in August), Iowa's looked the best. Howard Griffith suggested that Hampton might challenge for the league rushing title.

I don't suppose that fact the run game didn't get going had anything to do with it going up against the best d-line in the country.

ISU looked really impressive tonight. We are going to have a hard time next week. Their Ax-Rob poses a threat to us and AA's ability to move around could be a problem.

I don't believe it was the first string they were struggling against. Anyways, all these questions will be answered in time. Iowa should lampoon EIU, but ISU will be a good test for the Iowa team. A convincing win, and I will go along with the Iowa as Big Ten champs talk. Terell Pryor did not convince me tonight against an awful Marshall team. BTW, did you see the Minnesota game? That team is in trouble this year.

Jesus. These are the first games of the year for everybody. I'm sure OSU could have put 70 on Marshall and Miami coulda beat Ivory Coast more than 45-0. Iowa could hang 80 on EIU. I think ISU probably coulda put their foot on NIU's throat a little more. I doubt anybody is gonna show much.

Mid Tenn State>Iowa State....Minnesota won't be very good, but they won't be very bad by Minnesota's Standards...

Minnesota has a new coach, new staff, new defense. They will be lucky to win 3 games.

Are you implying ISU let up? They were up 7 in the 4th quarter and a personal foul away from giving the ball back to NIU.

ISU played a great game in the first half. The 2nd half wasn't nearly as impressive.

Yep. After Robinson busted that big one, you almost had a feeling that ISU might run away with it.

Other than that big run, NIU kept Robinson in check all night.

you've got an inside source in the biology department feeding you information about the football team? oh, that is rich. Let me guess, Dr. Menninger - who specializes in cell aging (i.e. you are getting old here) or hmmmm....how about Dr. Klahn who is an entomologist i.e. you are bugging the hell out of me with your clown love........

please, do reveal your inside source within the bowels of university of iowa football land.....
