Is White the most overrated Hawk ever??

Serious question...

If you guys think he's going to lea this offense next year you're dreaming.

If he doesn't score from the free throw line or dunk, he's absolutely worthless.

Start Uthoff at the 4 next year and pray to God Atwood comes and Dickerson can start at the point and Jok at the 2 with Woody at the 5.

White had great start to the year. Can only hope next year starts off well. They have a LOT OF TIME to think about it.

White should have been starting at the 4 with Basabe bringing energy off the bench as he did last year. Uthoff and Jok should have been getting the bulk of the minutes at the 3 from day one. What I just can't understand is how any division I program much less the "corn-fed" state of Iowa cannot find a 6-9/6-10 240lb space-eater that could be called upon to counteract guys like Stokes of TN.

I don't even want White at the 4. He might be slightly more effective than at the 3 but guys are still gonna just sag off watch him do his lil pump fake or take a couple dribbles before passing it.

How is he underutilized?? How in the world do you use him in a half court offense?? I sure wouldn't know how a guy to use a guy who can't shoot, drive or post up. I mean we give him an alley pop or 2 a game because he is an explosive leaper in the fact he is quick off his feet. But other than that... Again if he's not shooting free throws, running the break or dunking, he can't contribute and his 3 skills are probably the easiest things to defend.

Unless White can develop a jump shot - the world has him figured out.

1. Get back on defense against him.
2. take away the back door.
3. Sag off him make him shoot.
4. attack him on offense - he plays lazy defense and gambles.

Result he will score 4-6 pts.

He really has some things to fix in his game if he wants to take it to that next level. Otherwise he just needs to be a role player.

Well done. White is simply a one dimensional player and will remain so until he develops a consistent jump shot and can post up in the lane.

I think he will do some work in the off season and come back stronger. Don't get on his case. You know so much you take Whitey's spot in the lineup.

It's less a matter of strength and more about him adding the same element to his game that's eluded him for 3 years now. If defenses respected his jumper at all, he'd be pretty effective in the half court. But they don't, because he doesn't really even have one.

Overrated? Don't think so. He wasn't hyped all that much coming out of HS.
Misused/allowed to play out of position? Absolutely

Some people are just stupid. What exactly is the problem with a kid who is an explosive jumper, uses it to get rebounds, put backs and fast break points, and is good at getting to the FT line and makes a high percentage ones there. The kid made 3rd team all Big 10, which means unbiased coaches and media personnel think he's one of the 15 best players in the B1G and I'd wager a lot of them know more about basketball then most of us on here.
