Is White the most overrated Hawk ever??

He also made the all-frosh team.

As many others have said....to complete his game and double his offensive effectiveness, he needs a jumper.

J.R. Angle was the most over-rated Hawkeye ever!

He certainly doesn't seem to know WTF to do when he is standing out front with the ball in his hands except pass the ball. He has excelled at times earlier in the season on breaks and ooops. But he can't initiate an offensive move for s*it....

No, he's not. He's scored over 1300 points in three years. Don't be silly

This is where I'm coming from... I know he wasn't highly recruited out of high school and he's benefited from starting as a underclass men and getting a lot of minutes but How are his stats that good and will they continue to be??

So I guess it's kind of silly arguing stats that are clearly there but I think he is over hyped because he it's benefited from being a surprise his freshman year, last year the schedule was weak and this year he faded as the season went in.

i think he will struggle even more next year without dev because of the reasons I talked about and his limited offensive game but granted his career stats will be inflated... Thus overrated.

Excellent fast break player. No doubt about it. Half court efforts though? Sometimes below average, if he's not getting to the foul line in the movement of the offense , he generally isn't scoring. And it seems like lately his effort to get fouled in regular offense hasn't been there as much. He's had tough charge calls against him this season that has made him play more timid sometimes it seems. It's unfortunate. I really hope we see sometime like Eric May, who had pretty good freshmen year, and then disappeared part of his soph and junior seasons, but came through big senior season.

The answer is yes, but that doesn't mean he's not good. He's just not and has never been as good as some thought. He has little skill talent and gets all his points off running the court and garbage points. Which is great, except he stopped running and getting garbage points that last month of the year.

I think the only thing to argue is maybe why didn't he get yank in lack luster games, where Gabe and Jok often did for less mistakes or passiveness. I feel like had we had Jok have a game like tonight earlier and often, with trust of coach, his defense would have came around quicker and confidence maybe more stable. When Jok was as hot as he was, it was frustrating that he was kept on the bench during iowa's 3:30 minute FG drought in first half.

This thread is about White. Has potential to get back to being top in the nation at getting to foul line, just needs to work on avoiding charges and maybe more finesse moves.
