Is there a video online of the Gaglione penalty?

I didn't see it while at the game and I didn't set my DVR because of the Dish Network issue.....
I read the account of it in the paper on Sunday, but would like to see it for myself.

TIA

What is amazing is that Iowa got called for a hold on a similar play when the Iowa OL got bull rushed and fell back and the defender fell on him. Same thing happened on that play and the OL actually pulled Gags down, and then they throw the flag on him. Ridiculous.

Exactly.

What is amazing is that CMU was still in the game. That is the main story.

IMHO, the game was lost in the 2nd quarter. CMU had 23 at the half, and Iowa appeared to have all of the elements of offensive success, except the points.

Honestly, I don't know how you manage to lose to a team when you have a guy that can rush for 10 yards per play (as Weisman did in the first half). Something is just amiss.

The last couple of years, I've really missed seeing an on-field leader like Stanzi (or Tate, for that matter).

The other point is that Iowa very, very likely would've won that game if the refs had done a good job at the end. That's not to excuse Iowa's abysmal first half, though.

He had 9 carries at halftime. 9 F'ing carries.

Horrible officiating aside, we still should have scored more than 31 points.

They couldn't stop Weisman at all (until they loaded the box late in the game). Iowa should've been able to make them pay all day.

Was that it? I had assumed that something else happened after the camera cut away. Was that really it?

They threw the flag because Gags slapped the guy on top of him on the helmet. I'm guessing he was frustrated either because he was held or because the guy wouldn't get off of him. Either way, it was so stupid of him to hit the guy in the helmet, and when you do it in front of an official, it will get called EVERY time. The players were being egged on by CMU all game, and we just couldn't keep our cool. Poor discipline, and ultimately, poor coaching.

They didn't show the replay on DirecTV. I agree with theboat that the game was poorly officiated and there is no excuse for that. There was a PI called on Lowery in the 1st quarter that was BS and a no call on CMU for PI on Davis in the 4th quarter that Danan Hughes should have been called if they were being consistent. I missed the beginning of the game as I was on my way home. On the radio I thought they said the game was being officiated by a joint Big 10, MAC, Missouri Valley crew. Did anyone else hear that and if so, what would Missouri Valley have to do with it?

I don't know about the after play stuff, I was just referring to the way they didn't call it both ways at all. Same goes for the DB coverage.

From what I saw on that specific play. I was sitting pretty close to the old student section close to the top and this is what I saw.

Gags lost his footing and the CMU player landed on top of him. CMU player took his time getting off Gag and when the CMU player started getting up off Gag he put is hand on Gag's chest to get up. Then Gag pushed the CMU player off him. Then the flag was thrown.

It's called the "it" factor. It's called a star player/leader that the team can rely on in crunch time. We haven't had that in a few years and don't see any on the horizon as of yet. Maybe one will emerge later this season, but most likely not.

Pretty much this. Still doesn't excuse what he did, especially being a senior, with the game on the line, and the ref standing two feet away from you.

Like I said, I was sitting in the North endzone, and saw plane as day, Gags slapped the guy in the head. No excuse, and will get flagged every time. Stupid play that sealed our fate.

Evidently Keyton laid on top of him and poked him in the eye. Tough to stay calm in that situation but unfortunately he didn't. CMU was trying to do things to Iowa all day in order to draw penalties and it worked.

Gaglione said in a interview that the guy poked him in his eye while laying on him. That's why he pushed him off. Apparently he was just supposed to lay there and not move?
