Is there a bigger ***** of an official than Ed Hightower?

Do you have to even ask? This crap has been going on for years and until the NCAA starts holding thes A$$HATS accountable it will continue...I would love to choke that guy

Hate is a strong word........but I can say with no hesitation that I hate Ed Hightower. Every call he makes is so freaking drama-filled......it makes me sick. Has any team been as screwed over the years as we have by Hightower? It's so bad that my 11 year old son can't stand him. I will throw a freaking party the day he retires from refereeing.

If I was one of those senior managers I'd have gone out and SLUGGED him right in the fvcking nose ... never have to buy a beer in this state again

Hate is a strong word. That's why I use it when describing that pos. I hate him.

This can't come as a Surprise to anyone. Hightower is way, way overrated. I don't get how in the heck he always rates out so high for the NCAA Tourny. That is the biggest shock for me.. How he does it!!!

I think what he does is give the teams with influence the calls. Look at the absolute gifts he gives Michigan State all the time. Scratch your back, you scratch mine mentality.
Some of it I think is certain types of players he doesn't like, such as Brommer. Brommer in a game involving Hightower is just asking for fouls for looking like Brommer. I think it is on page 2 of Hightower's book.
Bottom Line: He needs to retire.

To bring closure to this thread, just let me state: There is no bigger A-hole than Ed Hightower. Case closed.

I will second the unbelievable. Unbelievable that this thread appears after every Iowa game, even the wins.

I know. It's unbelievable that you would say this when the exact same thing happens on CF as well. Perhaps if you had seen the call in question you would understand why people are so miffed.

I can forgive Eddie for missing the call. He had a very tough angle, the shot was coming directly at him, and the ball literally rebounded straight down. That said I don't know how the crew as a whole doesn't get that right. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall when Eddie and the other official got together. As a trail or center official you don't call a conference and go down there unless you've seen something that can help.

Of course the big picture is Purdue would have gotten the ball anyway because they got the board, but it's still something you'd like to see those guys get right.

Quoted as proof that you are incapable of ripping on officials. That was a BLATANTLY awful call, and you're here defending it. Good Lord. I've umpired some baseball games, and it was harder than I expected. I take it easier on umps now on the bang-bang plays, but I can still rip on an obvious missed call that anyone should be able to make.

The fact that it came STRAIGHT DOWN would indicate that it hit part of the rim. Unless there was some kind of magnet right under the hoop that drew it straight down

I agree with you to a degree. But it also looked to me like the second official was questioning whether he was sure what he saw, and Eddie was sure he saw a shot clock violation. Is that reviewable on the monitor?

Here is the bottom line, Ed needs to get glasses and a freaking hearing aid, first off I dont know how he didnt see it hit the rim and go STRAIGHT down and furthermore, I heard it the rim on my TV and if I can hear on those crap mics, he should be able to hear it when he is standing less than 10 feet from it, there is no other way to sugarcoat it, Ed Hightower SUCKS!
