Is Rudock a classic KF QB?

Like this kid, seems to be a good game manager but, not sure yet if he can do more? Right now he looks like a typical KF QB.. capable game manager but not a play maker.

I like that he called his own number and ran that ball some today - that's big step forward for this offense.

He doesn't seem to be able to throw the long ball and thats a big question mark.

Judging by how amazingly well he hands the ball off I'd say he's the prototype.

I don't think Rudock is the problem. I could be wrong, but I don't think he's what's wrong with the offense.

The critical problem with our offense is the glaring lack of playmakers at the wide receiver position. Missouri State was jumping routes all day.

It is going to be a very long season

He'll be the starter for the next 3 years like it or not. He the safe bet not gonna take risk. KF likes.

Wow...You are joking right. First two college starts and the guy has managed the games well and throw the ball accurately. He was 19 of 28 today and 4 dropped balls and a couple of others that could have been caught. He also made plays with his legs several times for first downs and touchdowns. What the hell more do you want? He's made two college starts, but to me, he looks like he's the real deal...and his upside is huge.

Our problem is that we don't have any consistent speed at the wide receiver position. Also, GD never threw deep to a WR all day long...not Powell, not Smith, no, he ran his TE's deep for balls...strange. If you ask me, they kept things simple against an inferior opponent...and I don't think they wanted to show anything down the field against this team. Just my opinion though.

I think Jake is putting together one of the best debuts a young Iowa QB has had, IMO

He is no jon beutjer, but he has been playing very well.

I have a friend who still talks with KOK. I think hes is on KOKs legal team in the chicago area. He said Beathard is twice the QB JR is. However it looks really bad to sit your star recruit from florida. So take that for what its worth but as good of a job as JR is doing just think how strong Iowa is at QB. Future looks bright.

Stanzi was better and against tougher competition. Twice he passed on throwing to wide open receivers so he could run the ball. He got away with it on the TD but it screwed up CJ on the first down run. With some of the other mistakes he made and against this competition I am not impressed.

He needs to be able to make a down-field throw. He has connected on only one long throw - everything else has been overthrown.

I'm not calling him out, he's done a decent job, good if not for the two Ricksix. So far he is shaping up to be a good game manager - in the classic KF mold.

Here's a thought, could JR start for NU? Wisc? UNL? Mich?... I don't think he's at that level but, he sure could start for MichSt, Purdue, Ind and Iowa

Once again...if he were twice the QB JR is, well, he'd be playing. Rudock has exceeded expectation in every category IMO. And for the guy who thinks he hasn't completed a pass down the field...what have you been watching. Powell and Cotton caught deep balls down way down field in the first game...Kittle caught a deep ball today...and I believe that was one of only two deep targets all day.

I'm telling you, I think Iowa kept it Vanilla today and didn't want to show anything down the field. Just my opinion, but we didn't throw anything deep today.

Rudock has proven in two games why he has gotten the start and why he will keep it. He's smart too...and he learned from the first game. Did you notice him moving around in the pocket and taking off much sooner if he felt pressure. Big improvement from game one.
