If KF retires after IA's bowl, imagine how much money USC and RIley would throw his way.I was thinking the same thing. If anybody on the Iowa staff deserves it, then Phil Parker deserves it.

But, the shitty offense is his fault. Yes, there have been injuries, but the offense did not have a pulse before any of that. The offense sucks because he made a very bad coaching decision.
If you set your own house on fire while cooking meth, then run in to rescue your kids, you don't get a heroism medal from the city....
Can an assistant win this award? If so, Phil Parker should win. Without him, Iowa may only have 2 or 3 wins. The offense was doomed when Cade went down in August. That dude was simply not ready to play and it impaired the entire offense. We banked the whole damned thing on Cade being the man and that fact that he went down and we should be 9-1 but for the most egregiously bad officiating call I've ever seen in my life speaks volumes to how good Kirk is, and even to how good Brian is.
Let us not forget that Kirk landed the best defensive player in the portal, Higgins, and probably the best non-QB offensive player in All through the portal. The dude deserves coach of the year, he had me optimistic before the season and he's on pace to potentially win 10 games with the backup QB and a litany of injuries on offense.
I was kind of thinking the same thing. If he takes down Michigan, the voters will have a hard time not giving it to him. Braun is more deserving though all things considered. What he has accomplished this season is unreal. If Ohio St. beats Michigan, Ryan Day will get it. He just will. Even though he has Harrison, Jr. and a gazillion 5 stars, the sleazeball dying his beard will get it.
KF and the assistants (and I will include BF in that) did have a stellar off-season. I don't think anyone on this board was critical of the offseason acquisitions and Iowa being aggressive in the portal. Iowa shored up QB, TE, OL, and LB. Haters gonna hate.He gets an award for beating a bunch of shitty teams he should beat?
This entire thread encapsulates the joke of this program.
To be in the race, we would have to win out. If we do, I fail to see any reason he would not be coach of the year. Think about, with all the adversity,
he has not lost this team’s focus and loyalty. That alone is enough to recognize this amazing season as special.
Some truth to that...except your analogy falls apart with the meth cooking. KFz isn't doing anything illegal/immoral. (though some might say Iowa's offense is a "crime")But, the shitty offense is his fault. Yes, there have been injuries, but the offense did not have a pulse before any of that. I look at the fact that he hasn't lost the team or the locker room despite the imbalance. That's the most impressive thing IMHO. The team has stuck together despite the obvious problems.
