Is It Pronounced Kriener or Kriener?

Ok. My wife and I are wondering the correct pronunciation. For the past two games, the announcers have said his name as Kriener (Kreener). Isn't his name Kriener (Kriner)?

On a side note, Jim Calhoun was deafening last night. Could hardly hear the game over his voice! He's hard to listen to. I was kidding and could not actually hear him. It was annoying as if turned the sound up then the game was too loud. If turned it down they could not hear announcers. Not a big fan of those two doing games.

According to HawkeyeSports.com Kriener is pronounced "Kreener". This makes sense. The name looks of German extraction and the "ie" spelling indicates an "ee" sound if it's not anglicized in pronunciation.

Kreener - like Tom Crean.... er .... I went to college with his cousin and I am positive that's how it is pronounced.

That's what I was going to say but you beat me to it.

When we lived in Arkansas my son attended grade school at Weiner, Ark.

Had we stayed, he would have attended Weiner High.

It is known for a Rice Festival each summer, and not much else.
