hire a former Iowa player to be the third assistant?

I listened to Bobby Hansen and he inferred that was going to happen (and it would not be Rodell Davis as he is #1 or # 2 at Providence)

I think this would be a nice to have but is not critical. I hope Caff hires the best available assistants regardless of connection to Iowa.

No. Must keep the family together tho. IE-former player etc.etc. It is the foundation of the success of the University of Iowa. The absolute life blood.

My opinion is that they should get the best assistant coach possible, period. If that's a former Iowa basketball player, great.

I'm not sold on there being any significant value in having a former Iowa basketball player on the staff just for the fact that they were a former Iowa basketball player.

It seems there could be some viable candidates (Kevin Gamble, for example) that might provide the best of both worlds. But with so much at stake from a recruiting and program development standpoint I just hope the right guys are put in place to make that happen, regardless of their alma mater.

This. If there's a former Iowa player who would make a great assistant, then by all means, bring him aboard. I don't want to see it happen just for the sake of keeping Iowa ties though. Whoever is best for the job.

He implied, YOU inferred.
