Is Iowa a legit NC contender this year?

Is Iowa a legit NC contender. Any team in the Top 10 or so has a chance. Talking heads will be split this season. Some will be impressed by the GATech game; some will remember the ugly wins. Who cares?

Iowa should win or be in a position to win every game next season just like this past season. That's all I'm asking for.
 
I'd like to think they are but if they are going to be Stanzi has to stop throwing too many picks. If he has a strong Senior year I think we can be right there.

I'm nervous about next year because we won a lot of close games last year (obviously). If we play those types of games next year they could easily go against us. We could easily be just as good as last year but go 9-3, 8-4.
 
If Bulaga and Richardson had returned, I would say yes. Without them, and with so many questions on the OL, I would say not at this time
 
Iowa is undoubtedly a contender going into next season. My own personal reasoning is that I think the Big Ten will get a team in the NCG...and at this point you'd have to say that Iowa is the second best team in the Big Ten. Just as something negative could happen to Iowa...something negative could happen to tOSU as well. Now...if Pryor went down and tOSU lost a few games...the Big Ten wouldn't look nearly as desirable.

I've said several times that I think tOSU is going to be for real if Pryor looks like he did in the Rose Bowl...or better. tOSU beat us last year fair and square...even if Stanzi had played in that game we'd probably still have lost it. They're going to be a force to be reckoned with. I also think that many people are overlooking the Michigan game...they gave us a run for our money in Iowa City...and even when they're down...the Big House should not be taken lightly.

The thing that gets me so excited about the schedule is that I haven't been as impressed with the crowds at Kinnick the last few years as I had been around 2002-2004. I think this is the kind of schedule that's going to get Kinnick rocking like we haven't seen in a long time.
 
I don't think with the question maks we are a legit contender. If everything gels we will grow into one.
 
I think it's pretty sweet that this is even a debatable topic.

However, I'm not sure I would consider us a title contender if we aren't favored to win the conference even when we play tOSU at home.

That will probably be the only game that Iowa is not favored. Personally, I think it's better for the Hawks that they're not favored.
