Is a camp Randall visit worth it?

Went there in 1983, 2009 and 2015. No bad experiences. One drunk student stating Iowa sucked after the 2015 win. If you can't handle that then you shouldn't be going out of your house on any day. When you go to someone else's place its best not to be an obnoxious fan.

Those that make it sound like it's visiting Syria or something are just nuts.
Iowa didn't suck in 2015. Joel Stave did.

Handed it over on a silver platter, and Desmond King announced his arrival on a national scale.

If you paid for my tickets, lodging, food, reimbursed me for my PTO, and somehow guaranteed me that the Hawkeyes would win, I’d tell ya to ask someone else. Went once and it was the shittiest experience I’ve ever had at any sporting event I’ve ever been too.

Complete and total douche rocket fans, no tailgate experience to speak of, hostile bars, and just nothing appealing or worth doing/seeing in Madison whatsoever.

That’s just my opinion, your experience might be great.

Do you not like red?

We went in 2017. Their fans are pretty rough. Loud-mouthed and cocky, like Ohio State.

I would rate it near the bottom of the conference for the experience from the visiting team perspective.

Save up your money and go to Ann Arbor. That is a special game day experience. Classy fans who by and large treat the visitor wells.

Michigan *was* a class act through and through. Tons of decent parking, easy access to stadium, golf carts running people everywhere, ushers for our section, fans were into the game but not bogus about it. Was worth the trip.

I don’t know anything about oconomowac, but that is the single most Wisconsin sounding name I’ve ever heard.
Yeah, they call it "Five O's".

Beautiful little town, situated between two lakes. Beautiful in summer, anyway- those two lakes make it especially "brisk" in winter. Little windy!

Great location, too- not quite halfway between Milwaukee and Madison, NW of Lake Geneva.

Nekoosa
Pewaukee
Packwaukee
Necedah

Basically about two hundred others, all with some native American origin to them. You know you're in Wisconsin when you see or hear those names.

This year? No. Maybe it will be worth it if the game isn't on Black Friday. I went in 2015 and it was so damned cold that it wasn't even that enjoyable. Maybe the tailgating there is epic, but when it was colder than a witch's titty on Black Friday, the place looked like a morgue for tailgating. The stadium is loaded with awful seats, too. Huge percentage of the capacity is open air seats in the endzones and corners. Look at the stadium. And if you need to piss or hit concessions, if you are in that top deck, you got a long walk to get down. I would say don't go until they move the game to October or something.

Good points. I could just enjoy drinking good beer here in Denver and not have to tolerate Nebby fans.

I looked at the stadium. Yes, it's really big, and yes, a lot of seats look rather sucky in the end zones.

Camp Randall on Saturday, Lambeau on Sunday.

This will be my first time at Camp Randall. I'm assuming it won't be that bad as long as you don't go looking for trouble. Certainly a Hawkeye victory would make it a much more memorable first visit!

When you get as old as I am, nobody pays any attention to you. Well, they might say, “Look at that crazy old Hawkeye fan.”

I'm going for the game this year. We've won every away game I've been to, so I hope to keep that streak alive.

Granted, I've only been to 3 away games (not counting bowls) so it's not a large sample size, but every little bit helps.
Been to Camp Randall 2 of the last 3 games. I found the fans very cordial and inviting. Fed my kid and his friend, game me a couple of beers, even polite after the game. Last game I went to, inspired after the "woodshed" game, I went up and sat in the middle of a Whisky section and was more embarrassed by a drunk dipshit Iowa fan who kept yelling like a fool. I found the fans realistic and not much different than Iowa fans. I did not go to the bars though, they looked crazy and a good place to get your ass kicked.

I was in a Madison bar, waiting for a girl's high school state championship game at the Kohl, the afternoon that Alondo Tucker knocked Iowa out of the BTT semis with a buzzer beater. The badger fans were loud but not obnoxious, and it was St Paddy's day so make no mistake they were drunk.

That probably cost Alford what would have been a third conference championship. For as much of a dinglesnort as he was, he could sure coach that conference tournament!
