Iowa's Wins v. Losses

It's one of those facts that seems interesting, and gets plastered on tv as a graphic at some point during a game, but it doesn't mean much. If Iowa wins out, and wins the West, will Iowa fans care that the Hawks beat teams that have a combined losing record, which could very well be the case? To answer my own question, I suppose some will care.

Well logically if the hawks win the West Division then that means 6 teams they played have worse records and you are getting into the thinking that half of them would have to have losing records if Iowa played them all and probably beat them all.

ISU should have a winning record but not sure about Miami or MTSU. NW is probably going to have a losing record and maybe Purdue and Illinois, maybe Nebby.

The combined record of the Patriots opponents this year is 14-42.

(Note this includes the Jets 1-6 record twice)

The weakness of that awful division has helped the Pats get home field in the playoffs for like ... what ... 51 years?

So subtract Mich and PSU wins over Iowa they are a combined 12-2

Subtract the 6 losses that Iowa opponents have against Iowa, they are a combined 17-24.

So add it all up, Iowa's opponents are 29-26 if you don't count their games against Iowa.
That kinda makes sense to do it that

Goodwill should have the Bills and Ravens swap divisions just for the good of the game.

Two, possibly three, annual matchups with New England and Baltimore would make for some compelling football, and make the AFC east a real division.

And only 12 points separates Iowa from Michigan and Penn St. I think Michigan (albeit except for their defense) was garbage when we played them. However, they look to be improving. I think Penn St is a good team, but not a Top 5 team as their ranking would indicate.

It is possible (myself included) we may be to hard on our team at times. Despite our frustrating faults (and they can be real frustrating) we have a good team on our hands as well. Will it be enough to win the West....well at least the door is open I guess.

I'm a Jets fan. I know.

You been to the new stadium yet? I went to 3 games back in 2000 at the old stadium when I lived out there. First one I went to was a Monday night game against the Pats. My boss had won a silent auction for charity so I got a Jets lid and a Wayne Chrebet jersey for free. I still rock that Chrebet jersey on occasion.

I haven't been to a game since the '80s.
