Iowa's Last FG of the Game? 9:17 left by Gatens

I was thinking 6 minutes, but 9:17? This has kind of been a theme all season when teams take Gatens out of the mix. Great win, but man, that weird lineup with May, Brommer and Cartwright on the floor freaks me out. Great win, but very lucky we got all those offensive boards late to limit IL's possessions. A win is a win.

Good thing Weber was on the other bench for that. Over 9 min? How bad did illanoy play those last 9 then?

"Bad" doesn't even begin to explain how illinois played. Not to mention they did not attempt ONE free throw!

Won't cut it vs. MSU, but crazy they can still win.
Just like the Wisconsin game.

At least they got some good looks in there. There were a couple clogged-toilet possessions, but there were also some good looks that just didn't fall. I continue to be impressed by the way they turn up the defensive intensity at the end of the game. And when you only have six turnovers and don't foul, you make up for a multitude of sins on the offensive end.

That lineup only played for two minutes or so-- maybe 2-3 possessions. It was a calculated risk to make sure Gatens and co. were fresh at the end of the game, and I thought switching to zone briefly at least gave Illinois something to think about. I think they made up one point on us when that lineup was in, so it was probably a decent move.
